Now that the MSRP is disclosed for the new NSX,

.. This is what happens when a company is run by corporate schmoes and not enthusiasts. ..

I was waiting for someone to comment on this.. Acura seems like it's too big for its own good. The cliche ridden presentation was just awful. Even the color they picked for the launch vehicle.. awful imo. The presenters seemed less than excited about doing the presentation.. they referred to the designers in corporate terms - 'design-lead'.. it was painful. Hopefully the engineers behind the scenes are detached from these non-car people. Compare them to Elon Musk and Tesla where a small group of thinkers take much less time to hammer out a unique product and production process. Not getting the feeling from 91 when as a 29 year old I stood for an hour at a dealership wishing I had money staring at a 91 nsx.

in ten years though we could be looking at an all time classic with extremely high prices - time will tell...

That sounds about right - it seems that there is about a 30 year cycle for car appreciation. At the moment, the 80s Ferraris are taking off with the most rapid appreciation which makes sense if you take the formula of (teenager + 30 years) = extra cash to spend

As others have said, the markets are not the same. The new car only shares letters of the alphabet with the old cars. The old cars sell for an average of $45k today up from $35k 3 years ago. That price point does not affect a $165k out the door car.

I don't see that many people dumping their current NSX for the 2015. In the reality of it, a lot of us here bought our current NSX only because it became affordable. I had to wait 15 years before I could afford mine. That's my plan for the 2015. 15 years and maybe it's doable then.

Can someone make Shawns picture bigger? I'd like it as my new wallpaper.

I like it, too. Makes me want one with transparent body panels.

I don't really get this philosophy of doesn't outperform 458 or 911. Is this dick measurement contest? I mean I don't drive car X because it outperforms car Y in the 10/10th margin. E.g perfect ambient, grip level etc etc. It's just silly way to measure. Purchases like these are emotional. If it makes you smile every time you go around the bend then that's all that matters. Some want to be different and don't follow the crowd with 911, r8, Ferrari especially... And it's great that there is another great option for those kind of buyers

Let's give it a year and see how the car holds up. Between the twin turbos and electric motors there are a lot of expensive mechanical items to fail. Part of the beauty of the NSX was its reliability. This car my turn out to be a very un-Japanese car. So far the 2015 Z06 looks more like the new NSX should have been, exotic looking, super fast and economical to own and maintain.

Release of Porsche 991GT3 did not hurt market price of Porsche 964/993. The Porsche 964/993 market surged big time over the past decade. I see NSX trending the same way. Electric motor, increased complexity of the new NSX deters the purist sports car buyers. One can only look to Lotus Evora/Exige/Elise and Corvette Z06 (last manual super car) if one wants a pure driving experience.

You answered your own question. For some, their emotions are driven by numbers and the theoretical performance limits of the car in their garage. Why else Veyron?

Honestly other than the name NSX, these two cars have nothing in common. So I believe for the most part they will have their own separate market price, i.e. one will not influence the other. Besides there's a huge gap in price between the G1 and G2, both great cars just different animals. I am curious if there will be an AMV adder to the new ones if the demand is high. The first G1 sold in the US had a $40k adder tacked on by dealerships...because they could...

I've owned manuals my whole life. While I still like rowing the gears, I'd gladly settle for a DCT/PDK.
I just hope the price comes down... or my income goes up... I don't know... we'll see. I'm somewhat surprised at how many here have said "no manual, no deal." There seem to be a lot of DCT/PDK fans on this forum...
