Job Description: Field Service Technician, Arizona
Bloom Energy is seeking highly motivated and dynamic Field Service Technician (FST) experienced in the electrical and mechanical fields. The FST will maintain Bloom Energy fuel cell systems, site maintenance and inspections, facilitate safety functions as needed.
The FST will be responsible for providing professional and exceptional service on any and all evolutions they participate in and must have the ability to travel as needed to support Field Service business needs.
Location: This position will be based in Mesa, AZ.
Role and Responsibilities:
• Coordinate Bloom Energy fuel cell system and site maintenance, facilitate the safety observer role as needed and assist in 2 person required evolutions as needed
• Support and perform component replacement(s) as needed
• Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on all Bloom Energy SOFC equipment including water systems, fuel systems, electrical/electronic systems, and fuel cell module replacements as needed
• Manage field validation trials with particular attention to product and personnel safety
• Perform component testing and analysis and drive resolution of issues by collaborating with product design teams internal to Bloom Energy US
• Analyzes and identifies root cause of system inefficiencies or failure and drives corrective action(s)
• Routine periodic data collection as identified for each unit by management
• Ensure all parts usage is accurately accounted for and reported appropriately
• Participate in internal and external training as required
• Works closely with customers, technical support, and Engineering to resolve problems requiring escalations both external and internally as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned
Skills and Experience:
• The following MINIMUM levels of experience and or education are required:
o High school diploma & 8 years’ experience in electrical field
Or –
o Technical diploma, Journeymen Certification, Electrician Certification in a technical field and relevant industry experience of 4 years (electrician, electronics technician, field service, technician, test engineer, etc.)
Or –
o Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and related experience of 4 years
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting/repair skills, understanding of mechanical systems, piping, plumbing and valve operation preferred
• Electrical experience required, troubleshooting & repair skills necessary
• Prior experience as an electrician in any of the following: 3phase systems, UPS (back-up power) systems, maintenance, electrical generation and distribution systems, power electronics, Automatic Transfer Switch Systems, and microprocessor based control platforms is highly beneficial
• Experience with various test and measurement equipment, electrical codes and personnel safety products and procedures.
• Must be able to read and understand electrical single line diagrams and blueprints
• Identifies and resolves more complex problems and applies problem-solving skills in order to deal with most situations.
• Highly motivated and able to work independently
• Demonstrates sound judgment
• A team player who exhibits a high level of integrity and professionalism in all situations
• Able to communicate effectively in English in both written and or verbal form to facilitate duties as required
• Able to follow procedures and execute sequenced work instructions from either written and or verbal communications
• Able to facilitate shift work as needed
• Able to travel as needed: Travel durations of up to 8 weeks in one travel session
• Must be willing to relocate and/or reside within 20 miles of Mesa, Az
