Next Acura NSX Has Ferrari F430 in Its Sights

Cool, thanks. Can't wait to see what they come up with. Hopefully by the time it does come out, it won't be underpowered compared to the competition at that time.

I read that yesterday and all I have to say is by the time the new NSX comes out, ferrari will probably be on the F460 with V10 and 550HP.

Ive given up on the next NSX.

But if it does, please Honda, take a cue from the RSX-S.

Hytec has a kit that transforms the mass produced K20A in the Type S to a 300HP, 11k screamer. Put two of those together and start selling the car will ya.

That's what crossed my mind first...

The F430 were released in 2005? Replacing 360 Modena after about 6 years...
So when the new NSX will come i 2009 Ferrari will release new-NSX beater i 2011 or something

I'm just hoping that this car will be as great as our NSXs are. That even 16 years later people will admire the cars beauty, quality and handling.

Considering that the current NSX will disembowel a 430 at a moment's notice, the only sight the next gen NSX will have of a 430 is a rapidly diminishing spec in its rear view mirror.

My crystal ball told me about this six months ago:biggrin: An Japanese Article translated by ME:eek: lol

Looking forward to see some pictures of the prototypes they're talking about.

To add further fuel, I was the first to claim the next NSX might have a front engine...everyone called BS on me until it was mentioned in a couple publications. So there!

I still do:biggrin:

The article mentioned the prototype spotted looks like HSC modified car. It will be hard to compete with F430 (and it's replacement) if the next NSX is a front engine car.

 :D Oh well...

nothing official...

As it stands, only the new Skyline has my attention as a replacement for my current NSX. (Mainly because it's sub $100k). Ferrari or not, I hope they can keep the next NSX close to the current one's price. Somehow I think that's a pipe dream.

if its based off the hsc, then it shouldn't be front engine car.
they should target the upcoming F430 challenge instead

This car ( Emre Husman creation ) has definately a Wow factor. This is the kind of thing Honda should bring with 550hp easily going to 650 a few years later ...

Thanks for sharing Major.

in what regard? F430 would and does eat the nsx and most other cars.

I agree!

Then again, we might be running out of oil or paying $5 a litre by then and the idea of a V10 550 bhp will seem silly!...

ferrari will be making a v8 entry level car and the replacement for the 430 will most likely have a v10.
The replacement will most likely have a 4.6 or 4.8L version of the same engine.

The QP also uses the same block with modifications, and it will be offered in a larger displacement (either 4.6 or 4.8L) version in the near future. This same block can easily find its way to the upcoming 430 replacement, as RD costs will remain less then grafting a whole new street V10.

Ferrari has a tradition of developing as few new engines as possible...case in point the basic V8 in the 355 derived from the same engine used in 308s 25+ years ago (and used in 328s and 348s). The new 599's and 612 both use variants on the Enzo's V12. There are other examples as well.

Based on this precedent, it is unlikely Ferrari would spend the capital necessary to create a whole new engine, especially when a 4.6/4.8L engine is both capable and (relatively) available.

They need to legitimize spending more for the 430 replacement. The entry level car code named dino w/ a v8 cannot be a car that cost less and performs on par with a 430 so a v10 for the replacement is logical. But just have to wait and see what happens just like the nsx replacement ;)
