Hello all,

I am in the process of getting the timing belt and h2o pump changed on a 91 NSX. I was told that I need a new timing belt cover because there is a bulletin that Acura is upgrading to the 97+ water pumps. I heard the only difference is a hole that accomodates the new pump and this can be drilled into the cover I presently have.

Has anyone ever done this and are there any tips on what tools besides a typical drill set? Any pics would be great.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I opted for the new timing belt cover to fit over the newer waterpump. My NSX tech said that he could modify the original cover but recommended the new cover (just his opinion). I agreed since I didn't like the mods needed to make the old one fit. I'd rather have a cover that fits perfectly.

Buy the new cover if you want But all you have to do is drill a small hole. where the new drane hole go's lower on the cover.

khuezee,

The bottom line is the cover is $116 from Eric Milam at Neillo, you will also need a grommet for about $6. The old cover will require a hole about 3/4" in diameter to be drilled, then you can just buy the $6 grommet.

I have a picture of both covers side by side and I will try to get them to you if you are interested. I just did this job and I bought a new cover. But, if you are tight on funds this is a perfectly acceptable way to go, IMO.

Let me know your e-mail address, since I have these photo's on my home machine. e-mail me at [email protected] today so I remember when I check my e-mail at home this evening.

AOB did this at the beginning of this summer. I've never had a problem with any of their work. It seemed like an easy way to save a few bucks.
