Well, an update to my setup....

Switched to 1000 F / 800 R. Dali Track bar middle hole front and stock rear bar. Toyo R888 cold pressures - 35F/38R (hot 38F/42R).

New personal best on the last lap of the first morning session of day 2... 1:19.8

FINALLY, I BREAK 120.0!!! :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

After switching from Falken 615s to R888s my times actually increased, I think I was driving the car the same and not pushing harder. Well, today I really pushed the car - HARD. The results payed off with another 2 sec drop in my lap times.

Oh, and a new 2005 NSX showed up as my student this weekend. He did a great job and finally realized I was right, his NSX could go flat out in turn 6 - even though I know he went back to feathuring it after I got out of the car. :wink: But that's OK, we had lots of fun this weekend and it was great to have another NSX there with me. I get tired of passing all the 911s. :) So having another NSX to chase was fun.

Took some nice videos of following him around the track. Will post vids in a bit.

Congrats on breaking 1:20s. Until now, I wanted to say, but didn’t that the times that were being posted seemed a little slow compared to the NSX’s potential. I know that my old stock class E36 M3 was capable of 1:20.3 at Putnam, when we used to live in Ohio and ran there on a regular basis. Put some Hoosiers on it and get it down to 1:16!

Wow, 1:20s in a stock M3. :eek: The 911 GT3s and Z06s run 17-18s.

So how'd the car feel? Neutral or loose? I understand what you're saying about "pushing" hard on R-comps. There's much more grip available but you've got to retrain your mind to allow for it - which is no easy task. Kinda like driving a full aero car.

Years ago I had a professional racer (he does ALMS and LeMans now) drive my NSX and he found grip I didn't know existed. We talked and one of the things (there were many) he said I needed to develop was a feeling for available traction. He would take a 911 cab, throw it into a corner, feel for rear grip, and play with it all throughout the corner. He managed to maintain distance ahead of a RUF RCT (I was a passenger) the entire session.

Just a slight understeer - only enough push to inspire confidence. For the first time on R comps, I had all four wheels truly drifting at the same time coming out of turn 4 - hauling ass! :rolleyes:

I really like the setup I have right now. 1000/800 with the track bar front, stock bar rear. Will post a video of a few laps in a bit. You can see if you compare this video to the last, that the wheel corrections are alot fewer and much more smoother - it was the setup, not the driver. :tongue:
