Hey guys. Very happy to be a new member of your site and community. Recently purchased a red/black 91 nsx with 58k on it for about 29,000 from a dealer in san diego (jh4na1153mt002721). Let me first say that this car is amazing. She runs great! Makes me feel like a kid.

Well i wanted to get up to speed on the service record (the dealer i bought it from had none of that info as the previous owner left no records other than where he bought the car originally) so I called the Acura dealer where it was bought new and luckily they had some info. other than all of the scheduled maintinance it got a new cluth, flywheel and sparkplugs at 55k back in 2004. Good news. However, the old owner did fail to get the new timing belt/ water pump at the sugested time. So here is where I need your advice...what service do you all suggest i get done soon and if your local where should I take it? Dealer suggests i get the timing belt/water pump plus all the other 90k(72mo) service for $2900

Thanks and I cant wait to build friendships with all of you!

Maybe this post will help you out...

I've taken my NSX to Greenlight and have been pleased with the services provided by Jerry and his crew. I've also heard good things about Tony at Kearney Mesa Acura & Honda Specialists and know he did the timing belt & water pump change on a friends NSX.

I wouldn't take my NSX to any of the dealerships in San Diego. Just my $.02!

thanks for the links. I think I will be taking the car up to Ramon in a couple days. Do any of you guys in SD ever get together?

congrats on the purchase. from a dealer is a great price at 29K.

there are a couple of spots down in SD who can service your nsx.

Im up in LA if you need reasonable rates, detailed work and quick turn around.

welcome to the community!

regards

Rob:smile:

I do not have any of my own pics of it yet but here is a link to my baby when it was still for sale! Bone stock but not for long!

Congradulations I am happy you didn't buy their 93 (texas car) with ugly wheels I had that car inspected and it was painted up front with vague history some leaks.

Change the timing belt water pump thermostate and drive it for a while before you start doing preventative maintance that way you can prioritize.

I took my car to Ramon a few months ago to get a timing belt & water pump (plus belts, etc.). I am 100% satisfied with his service and would recommend him highly.

how did you manage to bargain 29k for that beauty. congratulations!

Welcome and Congrats on your purchase. It looks like a great find.

I also recommend Jerry at GreenLight Honda in Kearny Mesa. He does all my maintenence work.

Yeah, we have Palomar Mtn runs every couple of months. There is also a cars and coffee meet on the last Sat of the month in Carlsbad off of Palomar Airport road near the outlet mall.

Maybe we can get a coastal run going from North County down to PB sometime.

thanks for all the responses! I am looking forward to the "cars and coffee" at the end of the month. what time do i show up? The seats were put in by the previous owner back in '04. As far as the price...I was pretty much willing to walk away at any time which helped my decision making and bargaining. I got one of those extended waranties for the peace of mind as well (hope its not a complete crock). Bought the wheels and tires...will have them on in a week or so and will have pics up ASAP.

Get there early! It's usually over at 9:00a.m.

I missed out on that car before it was bought by the guy who sold it to you. I could have gotten it for 22K from the original owner. He lives in Studio City. I'm still regretting it.

However, I went out and bought a 96 RED NSX-T. I'm happy to have bought mine as well.

Welcome and take care.

BlueBatmobile is the guy here who usually announces those meets. Since they are generally the last Saturday of each month, that should be just in time for your new wheels and tires. :D

So I got my new wheels put on today...pretty excited about them. I am afraid the obsession has begun! Pretty crappy pic quality of my phone but yall get the point.
