Nope, I was expecting a new redesigned Honda Odyssey until I saw the pictures of the batteries... Speaking of which, I think the Odyssey had stay relatively the same for like 6, 7 years? Exterior at least...
I was working for Honda when this current body style Odyssey was released. That was in 1999. The older version was basically an Accord with a higher roof line and a third seat instead of a trunk. Honda is releasing a new Odyssey Van in September or October of this year.

I didn't mean to hijack this topic but... the older version was basically rushed to market, which is why it wasn't so impressive the way the current one has been. This started when Honda saw that the market was headed towards minivans and SUVs. They didn't have the resources to develop both vehicle types at the same time, so they contracted with Isuzu (a) for Honda to develop a minivan, quickly, and allow Isuzu to sell it as well (as the Isuzu Oasis), and (b) for Isuzu to allow Honda to sell their SUVs rebadged as the Honda Passport and Acura SLX. Then Honda developed the current Odyssey, which was by far the best on the market when it was introduced, and even today production can't keep up with demand (although it's improving since they recently started making them in a new plant in Alabama). Recently the competition has introduced some models that are more closely competitive (e.g. Toyoto Sienna) so it will be interesting to see if Honda can make another quantum leap with the new one.
