hot off the presses-- acura just met with us at sebring at the alms and confirmed new v10 is coming soon. no details on pricing or release date but the design engineer says performance specs are amazing.

heard it all before

like everyone else I'll believe it when i see it

v10? Will give a damn only after hearing exactly where they plan to install it in the car.

The specs have sounded good for the past 10 years, too bad thats all its been...specs.

What I found interesting with this "announcement" is that it was the first time any Acura exec has admitted to us there even was a new NSX coming. This was my 4th out of 6 American LeMans since Acura began hosting us and each time we would ask the execs about the NSX nothing was said other than there will be a "replacement". When they addressed us yesterday, they told us before we could even pose the question that they are making a new high performance NSX with a V10. They also "confirmed" for the first time that one of them had actually spoken with the design engineer and saw the performance specs on the car. They have been so tight lipped with us prior to yesterday that it was surprising to hear them say what we have all heard as rumors.

They will be entering a P1 car in the ALMS next year and it appears a GT1 car perhaps in 2010. If they do the GT1, it would most likely be the next generation NSX.

The confidentiality agreements employees sign when they are hired generally prohibit any leaks unless it's a formal announcement..... period.

It is a little early for April 1st crap isn't it?

Apparently not too early for the Acura execs yesterday. Maybe they started celebrating St. Patrick's Day a little early or were hanging out with these guys too long.

This is not exactly a "leak". They merely confirmed what everyone had been hearing as rumors and that there would be a new high performance NSX. It's not like they showed photos to us.

Well if it is true and I hope it is I am going to be buying one!!!! Now you have me all hot and bothered again. White. If it's true I am ordering a white one. Unless of corse white is not available then I will take what ever they have on the floor that day which I can take home at that very second. Where do I sign???

Ok guys... no need to bash him.

Lets face it, when Honda produced the NSX, it turned the high performance segment of the automative industry on its ear. When... yes.. when Honda produces the Next Generation NSX (you can flame me later) they will again turn high the performance segment of the automative industry on its ear.

Honda has been producing a V10 for some time. Let me see... produce a NEW engine design or tone down a race proven design??? HMMM what direction would you go in?

I have been saying for some time (just not on Prime) that Honda will produce a NEW V10 Turbo powered NSX. The only thing I have not commented on is when.

My Prediction:
Production of a new NSX
Mid Engine 2 seater
V10 Turbo
200+ MPH
Aluminum and Steel construction
$140,000
When: November 2009

I put on my flame proof suite.... let er' rip!

One thing.. IF I'm correct, you will never hear the end of it.

I was sitting right next to Bob and I heard the same thing. I was talking with the execs and they were dissapointed to learn that many owners are leaving the NSX camp.

We were sitting with T.E. McHale (Acura Motorsports) and telling him that there was a growing number of NSX owners getting frustrated about the lack of a replacement. Several of the execs were hearing from us about the fact that members are switching brands rather than wait for the new one. Not that this will get them to move faster but for whatever its worth they were listening to their target audience.

And whether anyone believes them or not, they did talk about this yesterday for the first time to our group which hopefully is a good sign.

Awesome. Ready and waiting. (staring into space) now which car do I sell to make room in the garage. oh I got it, I am going to build another garage, yeah that's what I'll do. Build another garage.

Bwahahaha Are you kidding me??? seriously?? They were "surprised" that NSX owners (many of whom, lets be honest, aren't buying a new 120k+ car...) are giving up hope? I'd have believed it a decade ago. But now??? If they really were disappointed/surprised, it only goes to show how out of touch they are with the last of the Honda NSX customer base.

I hope those friendly Honda execs didn't drive themselves home after the event.

I personally do not think honda will ever live up to the nsx. I am confident that honda is fully capable of producing a great car, but I think honda is too far trapped in the past to ever come out with something thats going to put "the automative industry on its ears" if anything they will produce a car that will try to compete with todays cars. unfortunately, you cannot go from producing one of the most and best all around sports cars 18 yrs ago, then 20 years later finally producing a 2nd generation one. in the least, honda has to produce a car that can compete with cars today...then once they're back in it, they can fight to the forefront...

That's how far out of touch those execs are.......the concept crap they've been coming up with for the past couple years on all the Acuras speaks louder than their words!

Yes i bought my own V10, got tired of waiting for Honda...perhaps someday we will see something......

V10 turbo? You wont see that. If they arent able to get 200+ MPH out of NA V10 they better dont even start project.

I am encouraged by the fact that this information is coming from credible sources. Thanks Bob. Now that I'm NSX-less, I am reconsidering the purchase date of my next car. We shall see!

Do these execs know that most of the NSX owners want Mid-engine.

As for me, I could care less for a v10. Just evolve the NSX much like Posche does with the 911.

Didn't an Acura/Honda designer or engineer who attended NSXPO 07 tell a few folks that we would not be disappointed with what we would see at the Toyko auto show? Unless he was referring to the GT-R, he proved yet again that anything we hear unofficially (ie, not in a press release) isn't likely to be true. Frick - even the utterances of the Honda CEO have proven to be untrue on many occassions.

I was at the first few NSXPO's - in Denver, they actually gave us written surveys as to what we wanted to see in the next NSX - suggested to be in the year 2000 to celebrate some Honda anniversary (50th?). At a later NSXPO, one exec told us that the new NSX was "already done." Peter Cunningham and Mike Spencer (?) also mentioned the same thing - new car already done - and that was even published in few auto mags.
