New Lambo Revealed

looks ugly! i hate the headlights and the chrome rims.... they look like cheap aftermarket ones

I like retro styling. Groovy baby. They still have good taste unlike some cars nowadays that has too much sharp edges. Forget about functionality. At the end of the day you are parking your car and also speeding on the road could invite some unwanted atention. I may get flamed for this comment so Flame Suit ON.

I don't know if I like it yet or not. Reminds me of a Ford GT a little. I think the GT looks better though.

Loved the Miura the first time and like this version as well. Just happens that I love the GT40 and new GT just a little more.
I will take one in shocking green.

The GT40 and the Miura were groundbreaking cars of their time and absolutely gorgeous compared to other cars being made at that time!

The shapes are timeless and that is why they are being resurected again now!

You have to remember that when these cars were new, they were dream cars to every little boy or teenager! Those little boys and teenager's today are CEO's or owners of companies and can now afford to buy their dream car new!

It's good marketing... And personally I think it is great to bring these cars back!

What I think is a joke is when the "Designer" takes credit for HIS "new" design like the "designer" of the new Ford GT! (as seen on Rides on Discovery Chanel) Give credit were credit is due and that is to the designers of the original GT40 and not that young punk who showed us how HE sketched the design for the current Ford GT!... Oh please!

To those that think it looks like the Gt40...a little history:

That article is not entirely accurate BTW.

Yes, the idea behind the Lamborghini Miura mid-engine supercar came from all over the ocean, from the United States, were the Ford GT40 was designed and built.

It was NOT designed and built in the United States. The Ford GT40 was in fact designed and built in the United Kingdom!

Just read this over on Lamboforums .......unbelivable !

The miura show car had its lenses on the signal lights that were positioned on the side view mirrors stolen at the unveiling. As a result, Winkelman was very very pissed off about this. There might be no more unveilings like this anymore as a result. They were extremely angry because the car is to be unveiled at detroit officially, now with no lenses. They couldnt imagine who in their stupidity would stoop that low to steal those lenses. I cant imagine why anyone would do something like this and ruin the possibility of future events like this for all of us.

blah

design is way more than a general rough sketch. The designer is involved throughout the whole process. The GT is not identical to the GT40, it's bigger and the aerodynamics are different. Those things are easy to change, engineers do it everyday. But to change them, make something bigger and smoething smaller, add this here, lose that there... THEN still have the original iconic shape of the original... is design.

I, personally, think it is more of a feat to blend an original design with modern mechanicals and pull it off to the point where you can't tell it was redesigned, as compared to a completely fresh design... where you can do anything you want, and if this fender here needs to be flared for some reason, you can just do it.

just my $0.02.

700 GRAND?

What?

This was making sense to me to appeal to those who worshiped the first generation of the car with something that was more attainable.

This is basically riding the retro wave with a car that isnt attainable for 99.999999999% of the audience. Why do you do a marketing play and price it to an audience of no one?

Think about it, you could buy 2 CGTs or 3 F430s or.......for the price of one redisigned retro lambo. Makes no sense to me. Maybe at $150K, not $700K.

The next time someone says "that Lamborghini is disgusting", I'll just say "don't worry, they were only copying Ford!"

Proud, aren't we! Only two things can be said about that:

1984 Thunderbird PPG (the wing, only please. However, the rest of it would make good scrap steel)
1985 Ford Cobra 230 ME (230ME?)

When did creativity leave us? It seems to me that there is more retro items surfacing lately. Car manufactureres are going crazy with it. This new Lambo looks good, but it is a refab. Give me a break, design a new car and not a remodeled old car. Retro can be cool, but not for a "new" model.

my car&driver had an artist's rendering of a modernized Miura I liked alot more,

i'll scan tomorrow @ work... i wish they had gone with it instead

rickysals, I'm not disagreeing with you... In fact I agree totally! The car has new suspension, engine and is a totally new car! And there are other things like the interior, colours, gauges, etc which have to be designed in a retro but ergonomic way...

But if you watch the episode that I saw on Discovery chanel (Rides I think it was)... I'm sure you'll see what I'm talking about... The designer sits there and shows you how HE sketched the shape of the car!...

The shape of the car is the ONLY thing which didn't need to be designed!
