New in Denver- any Acura Dealers I should Patronize, or avoid?

When I lived in the Springs we took all our Hondas/Acuras to Advantage Auto, except the NSX - which we took to Pikes Peak Acura. My dad knows the owner of Advantage, but the head mechanic, Troy, is who really made the place great. He moved to CA a couple/few years ago. If the other mechanic who worked during that time (Matt, also great guy) is still there it's very likely still a top-notch place (honest, good prices, work done right).

That said, for the NSX, I'd stick with Pikes Peak Acura (Paul Z) or Flatirons Acura (Chris W), depending on one's proximity to each (PPA for you since we're talking about the Springs). They have a lot of experience working on NSXS others won't and have a good reputation.

Thanks for this helpful info regarding this, it seems like PP Acura is the place to go for the NSX.

PP Acura did quite a few CTSC installs in the last couple months I lived in the Springs. I was stationed out at Schriever. Was curious about the snow because I was thinking of driving the nsx there this winter. I know it hasn't snowed much during my time there but I know that if the snow starts to stick, I won't be able to get ANYWHERE in the nsx. Then who knows how long my car will be stranded....... Starting to miss it out there now. Was pondering the idea of moving back after I finish college.

Great to know that I could get a CTSC installed here, that option is really attractive right now. And about the snow, it's been pretty clear here lately, although just last night a huge snow storm hit and made I-25 among other roads completely undriveable even for FWD cars. But of course today, the only remnants of that storm remained on the sides of the road leaving the roads wet today. It's only been the third time that snow has hit here since last winter so driving conditions have been pretty good for the NSX.

Thanks everyone for all the additional info about PP Acura as well, it's good to know that they will get the job done right!

Even though they don't salt the roads, the stuff they spray the roads with is slick as snot. ESPECIALLY ON BASE. Those wider than normal white paint lines for crosswalks is especially slick even when slightly damp. I've slid sideways about 2 feet on my sportbike at times crossing those crosswalk lines on base when making a left hand turn.

Also, it's still CORROSIVE to metal. My truck had more rust underneath it the first year in colorado than it's ever had the first 9 years of it's life in california.

Are you living on base or off?

Yeah those PP guys are great. I've had great dealings with almost all the dealerships down there EXCEPT for Red Noland Infiniti, and the Porsche dealership.

I've been shopping for a month or two trying to figure out what I wanted. I took a used G35 for a spin and a week later came back to look some more and go for another spin but that same Red Noland Infiniti sales guy opened up his yap with "Are you going to buy this time?" I was a polite and serious shopped too. What a jerk. On the other hand, the Red Noland Landrover guys were great, I got a Discovery SE from them.

As for porsche years later when I went to them to buy a 911 C2 cab, they treated me like I was just another window shopper. I WANTED a 911 C2 Cab and I had the money. I asked them to look for one for me around $35k -$40k and let me know what they came up with. They never did and I didn't realize but kept returning inquiring if they did. They tried to sell me a used Audi TT instead. Drove it and hated it. So that was when I stumbled on the NSX online and asked them to find one for me. Once again, they didn't do it but I finally realized they were messing with me. Finally I told them I found a nsx and was going to get it in Houston. Their response, "bring it on down when you get it". 2 weeks later, I had my nsx. Really pissed me off because I still want my 911.

I'm surprised at how rude they were when even MBZ were so polite and willing to offer to help and assistance to a young airman in uniform. Even Jag was super polite and courteous. They even allowed me to attend a private party they were holding for VIP customers when I just crashed it in jeans.

If you have time, pop into the MBZ sales lot and just poke around. It's pretty cool, the ENTIRE new car sales fleet is stored indoors underground. Everyone else is outdoor.

I've never driven the NSX in the snow, except for today, when I absolutely had to get from one place to another without any option. I guess you can't say it was snow, but the road was slick and most definitely still had some of whatever they sprayed on the road.

Do you think getting an undercoat could help prevent rust should I happen to drive on wet roads with remnants of snow melting solution still around? Would any sort of coating do a good job of protecting me against those kinds of elements?

Thanks for the information about the dealerships nearby by the way. I might have have to check out the MBZ folks that you speak of sometime if say one of my friends decides to go car shopping.

I do happen to live on base, and they do a worse job of salting/plowing the roads on here than they do on the public roads. These people are contracted and have limited manpower so can only get so much done effectively. I'm kind of afraid now after my drive from denver to colorado springs on these wet roads that I might have exposed the NSX to some less than desirable elements, and especially since I have not rinsed off the undercarriage after the drive. Do you think this is bad?

Hi there,

My name is Daniel. I never thought to look into this section of the forums, however, I too am an NSX owner in Colorado (Colorado Springs). I was actually driving up to Denver one night about two weeks ago and saw a black NSX (NA1) on the freeway. Would that happen to be one of you guys by any chance? I didn't happen to be in my own, but got ecstatic when I saw it. My friends didn't know why I got so excited to see another NSX when they knew I owned one, but I guess they just don't understand :)

I too am looking for places to have my car serviced when that time comes. I wasn't sure if any of you were familiar with Pikes Peak Acura over here or any reputable place in this part of Colorado. If you do, would you please let me know?

Thanks! and if you see me around, I'm in the pearl white NSX with two charcoal racing stripes that used to be owned by Leon (Hitman). I have to say, he did a good job in the car's aesthetics.

WOW! I was driving to my friends house from Cheyenne, WY (she lives In CS, CO) and I saw you heading North!! Never thought to ask on here who it was tho!!! You were about 3 to 4 miles infront of a yellow Ferrari! Me and the wifey were playing "thats my car" and she killed my picking of your NSX with the Ferrari, lmfao. What are the chances? lol

Good to know there's a NSX tech so close to me...I plan on picking mine up SOON!

That's too funny. I would choose the NSX over the ferrari as well, i guess that is depending on what kind of ferrari. Is Cheyenne close to fort collins, co or by any means close to the northern border of Colorado? Funny that I was spotted by another prime member though, and that you happened to stumble across this thread here as well.

Good luck in your own acquisition of an NSX though. I'm sure you're excited.

yea it is a small world...lol.

Yea Cheyenne is right on the boarder. Like 9 miles or so and its about 30 miles from Ft. Collins. 90 miles from Denver so I have a feeling once I get my NSX I'll be down there offten.

And I have been really close on closing a few deals but they just fall thru. Got one in the works that might bring me down to Texas to pick up a Silver/Onyx 2002 as we speak! I cant wait!

This much snow = sand on the roads, especially in the mountains = my NSX will be washed/covered next week and sit until spring (with liability/collision insurance removed).

The NSX is sufficiently protected from corrosion. Not only is it aluminum, but one of the first steps in the painting process is an anti-corrosion coating. Some things (fasteners) may still eventually rust given sufficient exposure. Midwesterners would know much better than us mostly-fair-weather folks.

And I have been really close on closing a few deals but they just fall thru.

There are a few NSXs for sale in Colorado if you want to shop locally...

who is the tech at PP acura?

ive had my nsx for a 1 1/2 year and its been running great ... im just wondering if i should do a compression test? or get some stuff taken care of

it has 48k miles
whats been done:

spark plugs
timing belt/water pump
injectors
oil changes
brake fluid

thats about all i know so far.

who is the tech at PP acura?

That would be Paul Zmudsky who really seems to know his stuff. He's built some high perrformance NSX's himself from the ground up and is incredibly knowledgeable on all the workings of the car.

I've been contacting Brent Hoss as the main point of contact in the event that Paul is not at the dealership.

I'm planning to get my engine swapped there from a 3.0L to a 3.2L with the corresponding 6-speed upgrade.

Hope this helps :)

Looks like you beat me to the punch lol.

Wow, crazy budget project lol. Definitely the place to do it though!

Paul is a great guy, along Brian Vinson in parts and the other paul who is a service advisor. I've been given a hand with small things before w/o being charged for anything. Check out their PP Acura NSX when you get a chance.

I would just like to chime in with what others have said -

I have known Paul Z at PPA for 11+ years. IMHO he is by far and away the best, most knowledgeable mechanic I have ever met or known.

The ONLY guy I have EVER taken my NSX's to for anything from replacing the tranny fluid or clutch replacement ect....
He does a GREAT job, I have absolute trust in him and his work plus, he's a really great guy.

:)

I will agree with the above statement. Paul has done an incredible job with my car, I got to test drive it right off the dyno with the job i mentioned in a previous post above and it's absolutely smooth. They had to finish a couple other jobs on it, however, I get it back in a little less than 14 hours from now so am quite excited.

I was getting the brake fluid flushed on my '02. When I picked it up I saw your car. Paul and I talked about your car for at least a good 30 min. One word...wow...........
Needless to say, I was more than impressed :)

I certainly don't want to impose but I have to ask.
(I have been blessed with the opportunity to either ride in or drive many different cars in my life)
I have never been in a S/C NSX.
Do you suppose you could take me for a quick sprint ?
Even if just up/down the block real quick - that would be really great :)

(I feel like geek for even asking and normally I would NEVER because that is just not something you do but....S/C NSX's are so few and far between that I had to ask) :)

Daniel, me too me too haha. How about Friday after Dave's HIDs? (I think you said you were gonna help out)

haha sure corey let's do that. maybe get something to eat? I can't eat meat on friday, though I am allowed to eat fish. I guess we can figure that out. I was supposed to help Dave with his HID's so maybe we can do it right after.

How come the Colorado Springs nsx owners that wanna get together and BS nsx related stuff don't show up till after I MOVE? lol

Granted, the owners I've met have been very friendly but we never got to actually hang out.
