New 92 Owner problem - rev limiter kicks in early

Re: MAJOR Problem, Help please

how did you verify that speed? there could be a point that is common to both the tach and the speedo, such as time, that is the cause of this. Would be easy to confirm via GPS or by having a friend drive beside you.

probably not your culpret, but easy to check in the meantime.

Re: MAJOR Problem, Help please

the speed was verified with my own eyes, and a close friend of mine, as well as a honda technician. The problem has nothing to do with tachometer failure. The speedo says 70mph at 7000rpm, which would suggest that 80mph would be around 8000rpm. this is not a couple hundred rpm's were talking about, it's 1000rpm or actually 1300 for fuel cutoff

Re: MAJOR Problem, Help please

it's time to get a CHIPPED ECU so you can rev to 9k.. don't do it though.. but i'm able to hit 8k..

Re: MAJOR Problem, Help please

hey darknezz_ghost, Can i simply get SOS or DALI or a honda tuner to simply eliminate the rev limiter without actually fixing the proper sensor or whatever is wrong??

TW sensor help!

can someone please help me find the exact location of the TW sensor since i was told that is most likely the reason for my rev limiter problem. I posted about 2 months ago.
Detailed pictures and description required please.

Re: TW sensor help!

yes, no sh*t, scroll up. I placed my laptop directly on my engine bay and still i may have found it but i'm not 100% sure it is the correct one. I have the real 1992 service manual as well.

Can someone please send me more pics from further and closer views. There are several sensors near that area....

That is a very good picture and if you can't tell what you are looking at from that then it's time you take the car in for service. You might try unpluging it and see what code the ECU comes up with to verify that it is the TW sensor.

Sorry I missed that you were asking the same question again after 2 months, you have all the infomation you need to figure out this problem. You have a manual, stop posting and start trouble shooting!!

This is my last response to this BS.

Rest your chin on top of the air cleaner box. Hold a small flashlight in front of your forehead and shine it down at about a 45 degree angle just to the right of the coolant bottle. You should plainly see the grey connector with the red/white and green/white wires coming from the back of it. That connector plugs into the TW sensor. But seriously, if you were unable to locare after all of this information including Brian's photo, I strongly suggest you take your car to a qualified tech.
