Help!!!

I am changing rear brake pads... This is my first time; I was able to change the driver's side without a hitch, but I've been stuck on the passenger's side one for about an hour now.

The problem is I can't seem to get caliper piston to retract back into the caliper. I've turned it at least 20 revolutions (clockwise), but it seems to be the same distance.

Any ideas?

TIA!

Well, I'm definately not the smartest, but is the hydraulic cable still connected to the caliper on that corner? What about the parking brake cable? How easy was it to turn?

When I broke down my brake system, the rears were pretty easy to turn and retract on both of the rears, I didn't notice a problem (since I didn't have the tool, I just used a long, thin screwdriver to rotate them around).

Ojas, where in Austin are you located? I'm up in Pflugerville, but might be able to come by and take a look if you're still having problems...

I removed the parking brake cable; but did not do anything with the brake hose (other than remove it from the bracket to give me some room to move the caliper). I don't have the special brake tool, I was able to fabricate one (hack one together) and while I could turn it by hand, it did take a good bit of effort.

I've been following the instructions in the service manual (similar to the one's on DanO's page).

Thanks for the offer. I'm in south Austin off of William Cannon (not exactly close to Pflugerville).

I'll give it a shot after work today and see if I can make any progress.

Thanks!!!

Update...

I purchased the brake tool and an adapter to connect it to a cordless driver. Secured to caliper to the suspension and pushed in while the driver was turning the piston.

The piston finally went back in.

As usual, the right tools make the job a lot easier.
