Need help with an Dilemma

Ok...... you're all going to think I'm crazy.........

The local BMW dealer has a brand new 06 M3 convertible in White with Cinnamon Leather, Xenon, 19" wheels and upgraded stereo. They said they have a $4,500 cash back incentive on it ........ that's without even haggling yet.

NOw I'm thinking about trading in my S2000 on it ...........

...........or trading in BOTH my S2000 and my RL in on it and just having 2 cars for a while ........ the NSX and M3.

..........OR just changing out my 05 S2000 for a 07 S2000 in white and still having 3 cars.

Am I crazy to keep changing my mind about what I want? What do you guys think of the M3 convertible? Know anybody who has one??? How is it reliability wise???

What is the sticker on the M3? That is a awesome color combo!!!! There is a black on black here at my local dealer. Sticker is 63K I got them down to 55k, but didn't buy the car. I love the M3.

Sticker is $61,400 then it's minus the $4,500 incentive and then whatever else I can get them to go down if I go get it tomorrow.

Go get it and put up some pics tomorrow. Also you can pick me up at the Orlando airport next week and drop me off in Jacsonville that would be great.

Personally I think if Ace and Gary drove a car it would be the S2000. Why? Because I live in Sarasota where I've seen a lot of heterosexually challenged men who drive them. Last one I saw had a rainbow dog on the back. WTF does that mean?

To me the Cayman says "I couldn't afford a 911".

Go with the boxter, it's a great car and it doesn't make you look like you're driving a giant panis.

NSX-Stalker

Funny I've heard it all...

Porsche : posers
Corvette : rednecks
Cayman S : 911 wannabes
NSX : F-car wannabes, just a Honda, Exotic wannabe
Boxsters, S2000 : girlie cars,
blah, blah blah

Fact is that all of these cars are fantastic sports cars with proven credentials. Every single one of them is worthy of ownership. A true car enthusiast would know that. Also fact is that comments like this say more about the person saying them than the people driving these cars....

Is it my imagination or has the Prime demographics progressively become less mature over the last 4 or 5 years?

PS. It's Boxster, not Boxter.

I would trade in the S2k and the RL for the M3- Especially for the price you can purchase the M3 for:wink:

No problem....... see you then

Last night I finally decided to trade in the RL and the S2000 and get the M3. I didn't get home until almost dark tonight........and by the time I cleaned the car it was after dark (I'm anal about not getting swirls and wouldn't let then wash it)....so I didn't get any pictures.

I have a wedding tomorrow........but I'll definitely get post some pics in here of the M3 with my NSX by Sunday night.

If I lived in Florida I would have a convertible available to me at all times.

Try driving a convertible in Florida in the middle of the summer and you'll quickly change your tune. You'd need a putty knife to separate your ballbag from your thighs it's so damn hot and humid!

Hahaha!! Sooo true. How many 911 owners are TRUE enthusiasts versus poseurs??? 2%? 5%? Give the Cayman 2 years it will be the penultimate "almost there" 911 car. Think of all the Boxter wannabes and multiply by 100 when you have a Cayman that looks exactly like a 911.

Well I think that the Cayman is the best looking car Porsche has ever produced!

After seeing the Cayman, I now see the 911 as having a bloated rear end and the only reason to get it is because you need a "family" car because it has back seats!

The Cayman is mid engined and from what I've heard from professional Porsche drivers like Walter Röhrl is that it is a more "pure" drivers car than a 911... And they prefer it!

So I think that people who say that "the Cayman says I couldn't afford a 911" have the same mentality as people who say that "the NSX says I couldn't afford a Ferrari"

Congrats on the M3. So where are these pictures??

Just an after thought... I am not a fan of kit cars, but there is a company here in Florida that's taking Boxsters and for 45-50K turning them into Carrera GT look-a-likes. If I had to buy a Boxster S, I'd have to at least have this done.

I havent had a chance to take good pictures of it with my NSX yet and I go out of town tomorrow until Saturday. Below are 3 pictures I took the with my camera phone the day I picked it up. They don't look very good because my phone takes awful pictures. (It's just the way the sun was setting that's making the front bumper look like it has a yellowish tint.)

The girl in one of the pics is my salesperson. Next week, I'll definitely post much better pics.

If anybody is on I-4 passing Fields BMW and sees a yellow S2000 on their lot....that's the one I traded in...... my friend said you can see it from the highway. I don't know if the RL is there or not.

what kind of deal did you get on the m3 (if i may ask)?

MSRP was 61,400. BMW had a $4,500 incentive. Fields took off another $1,000 and are giving my the factory Sirius install for free. So I ended up getting it for $55,900. They gave me $25,000 for the 05 S2000 which was paid off, so I put that down on the M3. The 05 RL was a wash because what they gave me for it ($34,000) just paid off what I owed on it.

I think I got a really good deal.

And a really hot looking car. Love the color combo.

Thanks. My first choice was red interior.....but everywhere in Florida that had that combo only had it in the SMG transmission. But the more I have the cinnamon, the more it grows on me. I think I would have got tired of the red after a while anyway.....it was really bright.

WELL......... after less than 2 months and only 3,586 miles........ the M3 is GONE!! I traded it in last night on an Acura TL-TypeS.

Why??? Beacuse it sucked!! I will never buy another BMW again.

The build quality of the M3 was terrible. If you touched the dash or glove compartment, you left white marks that wouldn't come off until you washed them off. It started squeeking like crazy. The wind noise.....MY GOD, the wind noise. When I first got the car it was so quiet inside........then the more you put the top up and down.......the louder the wind noise got when driving with the top up. Never had that problem in the S2000. The brake dust coming off on the wheels was just crazy.

There was a vibration in the steering wheel when going over 50mph that would never go away. Field's BMW claimed it was because the tires were made wrong. They changed all 4 tires and that helped slightly but didn't fix the problem. Not to mention the service at Field's BMW in Winter Park is HORRIBLE.

NOTHING about the car makes it worth the $61,000 sticker price. Luckily, when I bought it I got a $4,500 cash back incentive plus money off and only paid $56,000.

I traded it in at Regal Acura in Lakeland and got $51,000 for it, plus they gave me the $600 in accesories on the TypeS for free. If anybody needs an Acura around the area, go see Billy Ray Morrison at Regal Acura / Honda in Lakeland, FL......He is the #1 BEST sales person we have ever had. I'm not talking just about the deal either......... he is just a GREAT guy, doesn't pressure you AT ALL, nice to talk to, loves his family, loves his job.

Fountain Acura here in Orlando tried to rip us off on the M3. We have bought MANY cars from them. The GM and Service Department managers all know us by name and recognize us everytime we go there because of how frequently we change cars with them. Including, just 14 months ago we bought an 05 NSX and an 05 RL from them all in the SAME DAY....... then they had the nerve to try and tell us that the BEST they could possibly give us for the M3 was $45,000!!!!!!!! $6,000 LESS than what we were able to get for it at a dealership that we had NEVER done business with before. Even Courtesy Acura in Sanford, who we never bought from either, offered us $51,000 for the M3.

I can't wait until I take my NSX in to Fountain for its service appointment tomorrow to let them know how much better a deal we received and that they lost a good customer. Regal in Lakeland sells BOTH Honda and Acura and from now on I'm buying ALL my cars from Billy Ray....... he is just that nice a guy.

In fact, I miss my S2000 and want to go back to 3 cars, so after Christmas I'm going to have Billy Ray order me an 07 White.

I had a feeling you would come back to the S2000. It's a fun car.

Nice of you to post an update on the M3. I think we have all learned from your mistake.....

Thanks........ yep........ I will never stray from Honda/Acura again as long as they keep up their quality standards.

Wind noise is one of the reasons why I went with the SL55. The hard top really makes a difference when it comes to wind noise.

I too have traded in a car I have only had for a month. You really don't know what the car is going to be like until you own it for a while.

Wow, you trade cars faster than me.

As for the M3 vert, if I had read this thread earlier when you were considering it, I would've chimed in about all of the noises you would get from that car. I, personally, had no problems with either one of my E46 M3 coupes.

As for the S2000, I am considering getting a 2007 in GPW because they have the red/black combo interior available for it. My only problem is I live in a 2 car garage townhome and I don't want to leave my truck parked outside.

Maybe I'll dump the truck and get the S2000......

For a car enthusiast - a S2000 to a M3 cab is NOT a lateral move.

Congrats on Tl Type S. Give us a quick review.

Thanks. The Type S is great. I actually like it better than the RL I traded in with the S2000 when I got the M3.

It seems just as big inside as the RL was but it has MANY new things that the 05 RL didn't have. Drives great. LOVE it.
