One week to the day after we brought it home, Dianne gathered her nerve and drove our new NSX a mile or two around neighborhood streets. She did great and I was impressed. I'd never seen her drive a stick before (although she'd assured me she could) in our 6 years together but she was smooth.

Right up until the end.

We'd pulled up into a friends driveway for our first stop and I told her to set the brake and put it in reverse, which she did. Then I said 'turn off the key' so she let out the clutch.

Oops, stalled in the driveway. Still and all I think she did great, actually making it to 40 mph or so in 3rd gear and generally driving like a pro. I've been drilling her in the proper ways to close each door, trunk/hood, hatch, etc and she's doing great. Thanks darlin'! Posted knowing she'll read this someday. :)

Who else gets to drive your car? Do you make them drive it *your* way? ;)

I wish mine had the balls to drive one of my cars. She is terrified of the NSX in particular. The reason is due to how low the car is. It's a safety issue with her. She doesn't even like riding in them. It is kind of funny, though. I forget how low the NSX sits. After I got the NSX home from all the service work, I drove it for 3 days straight. I hopped in the Z06 the next day and felt like I was driving a big truck. (That is NOT an exaggeration.)

My wife drives my car often...she likes driving it but not in traffic...she loves the speed. I only tell her to watch out for potholes and speedbumps!

I've been trying to get mine to drive the NSX. She refuses to because she's afraid that she'll break something (i.e. the front splitter :D). She doesn't even like driving either of my Legends because they've been lowered. She likes being able to plough through and over dips and bumps. :D

My wife can't drive stick and refuses to learn. It's actually a bit frustrating. I even had my sister take her out in her Miata (one of the easiest sticks in the world to drive) and she picked it up quickly but came back saying she hated it and didn't want anything else to do with it.

Who knows

My wife drives the NSX almost once a week. She drove it in the Autocross and last year's prime canyon drive. She can handle that car with no problems.
Anyone who test drive my car, I let them take it to redline to get the NSX experience.

As I'm not married I can tell the truth. No woman will ever drive one of my cars. :D It would drive me crazy driving over every pothole on the road, complaining about the make-up-mirror, wild reving while shifting, thinking that the NSX is a very big car...:)

I really got in trouble a couple of years ago when I traded my wife's VW Bug in for a 2002 Corvette.... She didn't talk to me for 2 weeks.... I've since sold the Corvette... and was met with resistance when I brought up buying an NSX.... I smartened up this time... taking her with me to examine the car.. I figured that she would hold firm and prevent me from making any bad judgements... Boy was I wrong... She instantly fell in love with the car and didn't help me when I was in the process of negotiating.... She still hasn't driven the car??? and beiieve me ... I offered... but I have to admit that I'm secretly glad.. because I think it would drive me crazy....

:D ...women don't like car which are taller than themselves  I would have sold my girlfriend's car and bought her a bicycle. :D

My wife will drive it if she needs to, but only if there's no other option. She's a little afraid of it.

And recently I taught my stepson to drive a stick in the NSX. It was quite a moment for each of us.

My wife taught me how to drive a stick back in '86. Now she preferrs not to drive them. So when I get an NSX (any day now I hope!) i don't think I'll have to worry about not have a driver seat memory!

Took a couple of months but my wife drove my NSX for the first and only time. I let her practice a bit in a vacant lot to get the feel for the clutch. Then off we went. On the bypass near our house she had it up to about 110 mph......I told her she was doing fine - let's go home, then I hid the spare key. 'nuf said.

Good job!! I let my wife drive the NSX if she wants to, but she rarely wants to drive it. I almost had to force her into driving it the first time. We were at an NSX event that had an autocross event as part of the schedule so I signed her up for the event without telling her and when it was almost her turn I was like, 'Looks like you are almost up, babe...here is your helmet,' and after she got over the shock and nervousness she did fine. She was all worried about wrecking my car, but I just told her it was no big deal, anything that happened could be fixed, and not to worry. It was funny because by the second run or so she was laughing and having a blast. :D

I let close friends and family borrow my NSX's when they want to. The only stipulations I put on it are that they cannot race the cars, and anything they break they pay for. That last part usually has them driving pretty carefully. ;)

While she likes the looks of it, my wife is scared to death to drive the NSX. She'd rather scrub the toilets than get behind the wheel. Wait a minute, that's one hell of a deal I've got going....I love my wife!

Aug 2002 I took some cash out of the bank and surprised my wife with a brand new black PT Cruiser.
In Late Sept I decided to drive it by myself down to Newport Beach (so Calif) to visit my parents for the weekend. On the following Sat morning I took my Mother out for a drive in the PT since she expressed that she wanted one.
This is where my life changed.
We were driving by a car lot that specilizes in High end vehicles and WHAM! I see a black nsx sitting out in front. Two hours later and lots of mushy phone call stuff to my wife on how much I needed the car and how the PT was impractical, I was driving my black NSX.
I cut the visit short and was headed north back home on the coast Hwy feeling like King of the world.
I did get her a new car shortly thereafter as she will not drive the NSX even though she handles it very well.

My 15 year-old drives mine with me in the car. He says it is easier to drive than my EVO MR.

Girlfriend took it up to 135ish.

Actually I will let anyone drive itwith me in the car as long as I know than can handle a manual transmission. I personally feel this is a good way to make more people auto enthusiasts.

Rarely. Something about too slow and not enough b****. pretty car but doesn't stand out in a crowd. Tim

My girl learned to drive in my s2000 3 years ago (those clutches aren't forgiving for beginners because they have a very precise friction point). Since then she's a pro at driving stick, no car was too tough for her to handle. She's driven 3 NSX's before with no problem and currently drives our Integra type R.

I am honestly a little worried about my wife driving the BBSC car, but i know her, and she shifts about 3000 RPM... so I don't think she can get it too much trouble.

Tim, if your NSX doesn't have enough b****, we're all in trouble, then again, she's been spoiled by the ford that she drives!!!!!

That's exactly what I told her, a Ford is a Ford. She just laughs and then kicks dust in my face the next time. Come to XPO this year and you can see what the man of the family drives, ha! ha! ha! ha! says Tim the toolman.

I taught both my daughters to drive with manual transmissions on Honda Accords 5 speeds. The older daughter got to drive my Ferrari 308 GTSI a couple times. The younger actually used my Porsche 944 Turbo S for two weeks as her daily driver one Summer. BUT only after she promised me that she wouldn't let anyone else (boys) drive it. No problems. They could drive well.

I let my younger daughter drive so much before she had her first Driver's Ed class that the instructor chewed her out for being able to drive.

He said: "Who taught you to drive? You are not supposed to drive with anyone until you have completed my DE class." She secretly got a kick out of that.
