The track rat has not been to an NSXPO since California, so I thought it was high time to get her back on her feet again with some nice go fast goodies. Engine, aero and suspension work by Rob Morrison. Cage and further improvements by SpeedWerks in Thomasville, NC. Enjoy the pictures. She is not finished yet  but they say she will be drivable by next Wednesday.

Cage construction starts. Thanks to Rob Morrison for the weld to plates.

Looks awesome! Can't wait to see it finished. How much do you think it will weight when you are done?

Before the cage and windshield, it weighed just over 2100 pounds:biggrin:

Do you still have the brake rotors for the passenger to sit on like in Cali?

No, unfortunately no special drink holders in this model, the rotors actually help stop the car now!!!

Gary,,I love it! The rat looks to be transformed into a big dog!Every time I see one of you guys do this my dreams are brought to life. Some day.I just saw your response to the xpo thread,,I know it is crappy not getting to run the bee at Mid O. Have fun ,run hard and lets hope it all hangs together.

As an owner of a Grand Prix White, I am slightly saddened by the pics....but glad you are having fun. It looks like the cage goes right where the instrument cluster would be...how will you know how fast you are going?

Looks pretty stellar man! cant wait to see what it looks like finished. I spotted this on honda-tech as well.

You could save another 2lb, 5oz without the engine fan  , or do you have it wired to activate manually?

You already took off the engine lift bracket near the alternator that saved you 6.5 oz - a lot of people miss that

That is awesome. I have envy. In my opinion, the NSX needs serious weight reduction, like that, to be a top dog on the track. Cars with 400hp+ are everywhere, depending on whom you run with.

I assume your car is raced also. If so, who do you run with?

I think that, if I keep my car long term, that mine will start to head in that direction. My wife still thinks its good as-is.

Gary can do a bit more weight reduction by losing some weight :p

Just kidding Gary.. :D

Believe me, you are very correct in that matter and it is painfully being undertaken:D

HOLY CRAP!!! 2100 pounds? If the shop is open tomorrow, do you mind if I drop in on them and check it out?

Only open Monday through Friday as they are at the track most weekends supporting PCA or Historic races, but drop by this week if you can. Owner's name is Dave, and the guy doing the work is Jordan. Hopefully everything will be done and glass etc back in by Tuesday. Will keep posting pictures.

Dual master cylinder setup

Here are pictures of the intermediate brake dual master cylinder setup with balance bar. All of the stock brake parts including ABS removed. I will hopefully be changing to a Tilton hanging pedal and smaller bracket after NSXPO but they did not have time to complete before Wednesday. This setup was designed by Rob Morrison for his World Challenge NSX.

Oh cool. Dual MC. I had contemplated that same modification, but for what I am doing opted to preserve my NA2 ABS for the time being. That should be a nice setup.

As to eligibility, what series/class rules is your car being prepared for?

Mostly Honda Challenge with a nod toward SCCA GT2. Plus one hell of a fun ride on DE days with my boys at Chin Motorsports and at our new track in NC opening next year, High Rock Raceway, where as a member I will get 60 track days a year to play!!!

Need more info on the High Rock Raceway you speak of.

ps. Any chance you will let me take the rat for a spin sometime?

Niice... Not bad atall!!!

Looks very similar to our build

What is this being built for: Class/organization/hp level/etc...?

Mostly fun, but NASA and SCCA are options. 300rwhp presently. Aero pieces from Peter Cunningham's WC NSX.
