I've had my new car for a few days now and I thought I would share my impressions for those of you who are considering the purchase of one.

Yesterday I had the opportunity of driving it on the Oakville Grade which connects Sonoma Valley with Napa Valley. This road is 10 to 15 miles long with large grade slopes, hairpin turns (both ascending and descending) and many curves in sequence that require a smooth and a quick transition.

The SH-AWD (Super Handling All Wheel Drive) is all that I was hoping it would be - and then some! The handling on this car is just plain FANTASTIC!! I've driven that same road in my '99 NSX on numerous occasions so I know it well - and I dare to say (on this forum) that I had as much fun driving the road on my new RL as I have on my NSX. My RL has the standard 17 inch wheels and all season tires that come standard with the car.

Do you remember the feeling of solidity you felt when you drove your first Mercedes or BMW after driving lesser cars? Let me tell you - the chassis on this car is so solid that again, I dare to say, it feels better to me than all the Mercedes and BMWs I've ever driven put together. This car is a jewel!

I already ordered my 18 inch wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport tires - I can't believe that these will improve the handling I already experienced- but we'll see.

I paid $46,000 for the car including the trunk tray, the color matched mud guards and the wheel locks. Most dealers are discounting them 1K or 2K but here in CA they are now discounting them up to $3.000. This car is absolutely, definitely, a huge bargain!!

Congrats on your purchase. I think Acura hit a home run with the new TL and hit it out of the park with the RL.

congrats! may i ask do u work for Mac in cupertino? i drive by De Anza sometime and see a yellow NSX park there.

I agree. Lets see some pix! I think the RL is a great car, I just wish it was a little larger. To me it is too close in size to the TL.

I wonder if there will be a comptech SC for the RL??

As far as pictures, I don't know how to post them but there are plenty of pictures of stock cars available - mine is pearl white with parchment interior and completely stock . . . for now

Let me know where they are discounting them $3000. In Florida where my father lives, they are not discounting them at all. We could order it from the dealer there and have it drop shipped to Florida for a fee and still make out way ahead.

I got $3,500 off from my dealer near my house. Granted, they delivered my new '99 NSX and I've bought several Acuras from them over the years so, they like me and my business. However, I was offered $3,000 off from Elk Grove Acura in Sacramento, talk to Doug - he is on the web, and I was just another John sending an email. Also, Niello Acura is discounting big too, they are the biggest dealer and sell many NSXs in Sacramento - someone at a party this weekend told me he got his for "over" $3,000 off sticker.

Make a solid offer in writing to the general manager of any of these dealerships and you will get a big discount. A sales manager back East who posts here on Prime told me they are only discounting 1K or 2K for family members because they only get 12 to 15 cars a month, and he recommended I take the deal ( I asked him if it was a good one). My guess is that East coast deals are not as good as West coast deals because they get fewer cars.

Even if you have to pay sticker, it's just a wonderful car for the money. Buy it!!!
