My Leatherseat.com install (picture heavy!)

are the seat foam glued to the metal frame of the seats?
the seat bottom cushion might have had a little glue on the very front edge (but that might have just been years of compression rather than glue) but there's no glue on the foams anywhere else, there are 2 pushpins on the bottom and back centre cushions.

question to britlude

no foam padding or inserts were added to the seats to fill in the seats more? i keep on reading that unless more is added the leather will be all loose and wrinkley, meanwhile your job/workmanship looks immaculate/completely oem from the photos.

thank you.

basically, I fitted the seat covers, and identified where there was any loose areas. there were only a couple of small areas, but that was down to the seat foam being compressed after 19 years of being strapped up in leather! it didn't take much to sort out, I bought 1m x 0.5m 6mm foam, and I used about 1/4 of it at most.

I just took my time and trial fitted the covers, adjusted where necessary before final fitting.

thanks for the positive comments, and I'm pleased to report that the 'crease' in the passenger seat top green panel has flattened out and disappeared without any further tweaking!!! :)

I really like what you did. (Although I kind of miss the door panel wrinkles) Do they make a wrinkled door panel?

the door inserts are supplied just as flat leather, though i'm sure they can put a stitch down the side to 'gather' them... I just wanted mine flat to match the new centre panels, all co-ordinated.

Just thought I would add to this thread rather than making a new one. I just did my seats. They are from Leatherseats.com. I did the carpet at the same time.

very nice!!, anyone know if the ivory seat color is the same as beige color from their website on the dye? its seems the ivory is closer to white?

I've noticed that especially with the Ivory interior cars that the exterior ages better than the interiors over 20+ years. I had my 91 NSX Ivory interior re-done with Leatherseats, com. As you may know, the only leather in the seats is on the surfaces you actually sit on. The backs are vinyl. However, No one makes the Ivory vinyl anymore so you'll be ordering full leather seats which will be a little more expensive. Though even if I had a black interior I would spend the extra for Full leather. This is my dream car so only the best will do. The color that matches the closest is Ecstasy Off-White #212. It is far better than the original leather in quality and looks like it came with the car from the factory.

I also would suggest that, while the seats are out, you deep clean your carpet. When I finished the interior looked band new and smelled like a new baseball glove. The old Red 91 looked like it was still new. I dealt directly with Tim Broberg at Leatherseats.com. He's a good guy and will backup his product. His # is 866-639-7328 Ext.107

Yes, my seat covers are those in the vid... i saw them there before they arrived with me!

as for the feel.. with the new seat leathers fitted i realised just how hard, dry and tired the old seat leather was. the old stuff was like cardboard compared to the new soft supple leather! definitely transformed my seats for the better.

Excellent write up!! My new covers are in the mail to me now as I write this! Was thinking of taking them in to a custom shop to do, but after reading your write, you've given me the inspiration to try it myself!! Pics to come once finished!

If you plan to do the install yourself plan for at least a whole weekend just so you don't under plan for time. It takes time, so if you really want the job to be done right take the time. you will feel much better about it in the end. Also, pick up extra foam padding from Amazon.com. After doing mine I wish I would have added more extra around the shoulders, back, and seat areas.

Are the fitment inconsistencies from the kit or the installer? Some look factory some look like Autozone $20 seat covers.

as mine turned out looking factory, and leatherseats use the same template, i'll guess it's installer based. i'll just like to say i try to get things i do looking as close to perfect as i can!

what i will say is fit the seat covers, check the fit, tweak the foam where applicable, and try again, get it sitting right before making holes and tying it together.

the only area that needed a tweak on mine was the upper back centre section. my original had tapered sides, that is the foam thickness got thinner toward the top, whereas the leatherseats cover stayed square. i just pulled the cover tighter to take up the difference.

basically take your time, and get things tight! pay attention to making the seams 'lay' the same way on the underside!

Rather than start a new thread, I'm tagging along in this one. I ordered from leatherseats.com and did the install today. I am quite pleased with the results.

I am going to re-do the door panels in tan and deep clean the interior before I put the seats back in. Should be back in the saddle by this time tomorrow. :)

I have a Defender game to your Ms. Pacman.

After 15 years of repairing Ms Pac Man and sometimes having it broke more than it worked, I finally replaced the CRT with an LCD and the logic board with a 64 game jamma board. It's much better now!

Figured I'd throw mine in here too. :D

wow that ivory looks great, and Skippy I like your tan inserts very cool,

to answer someone question I have installed like 50 new seats on the NSX now and sometimes they turn out really really good then other times the leather was cut to long and has some sag and extra.

but 90% of the time they are pretty close to factory. its the only place I buy new leather from for the NSX.

but let me tell you, don't get the Italian leather option they offer, I did this for a customers NSX and the leather was the same as the 699 version don't waste your money on the high priced seats
to me they were the same but the price is def not the same. stick with the 699 version and you will thank me.

Nice. I'd like to have a really good table top Pac Man.
