Hello ALL -

Call me crazy, but I found my black/black LS430 ULTRA for the right price in IL so I took a trip there Thursday and drove it home Friday-Sunday...The BEST roadtrip ever for me.

What a way to get to REALLY get to know your car..

I must say after over 2000 miles and 2 whole days..NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER!!!

This car is fantastic..very quite (no rattles except for the subwoofer when bumpin it hard ;), very smooth on good or bad roads..
the sport suspension works very well on the twisties,
the air suspension is quiet and smooth,
the nav works great, but needs to be updated,
the ML system really in competition grade,
the seat comfort and adjustments are perfect,
the laser guided cruise control works like a charm (used it most of the time),
the rain sensing wipers is fantastic and works with snow as well,
the back massager is great for a little break when doing a looooong drive,
the climate controls feels perfect,
the brakes are soft, but will stop you, although this needs getting used to as the car is big/heavy,
the front calipers are HUGE!!
the auto door closers are good sellers,
the HIDs works great at night,

did I mention this car is VERY QUIET??

wow, what can I say, for a used car with just a hair above 65K miles, it's unbelievable!

Enjoy the pics!
wow..2091 MILES of pure pleasure!

Nice, I and my family make that run quite often.
Nothing like being able to take your time and relax at it, while sitting in a nice seat.
The sound coming from that Mark Levison setup helps a lot as well.
Glad your trip was all that and safe to boot.
Nice ride.

That's awesome. I have to ask though, what price did you get to make the drive worth it, or was the drive actually a reward?

I needed a roadtrip first of all...and I could have paid the 1400.00 shipping but I wanted to experience this car first hand...

I paid less than 28K out the door with taxes... .. the cheapest I found this car locally was at least 32K without taxes.

plus I wanted the color combo with the Ultra Lux package which is quite rare.

Congratulations on the new TOY! Now I'm thinking of getting one also.. Awesome deal!! I never had any problem with my LX470 now at 62k. I just have to replace the battery - but of course I got a new one under warranty. ENJOY!

Congratulations! What year is it!?

I am a HUGE Toyota/Lexus fan! I had a 97 LS400 and just recently purchased a 98 GS400 after selling the NSX. I WILL get an LS again.

Congrat's. That's an absolutely fantastic car that many enthusiasts are quick to bash without even driving. Sure, it's not an M3 sedan but it wasn't designed to be and taken in the context of what it was designed to be... it's pretty incredible.

Thought most cars were governed around 140-155mph. Great ride, sounds like a real blast. What's your take on the LS430 vs. the Q45?

I looked at both...having had 2 Infiniti's (2 QX4s, One I sold and the other I still have), these cars don't age tooo good. The interior specially the leather seating gets very ugly after only 80K Miles..The panels inside are the same. I do love the styling and power, but after owning the 2001 Lexus GS300 for only a short time (6 Months) and about 44K Miles..the fit and finish inside the cabin is still very nice whereas my 2002 QX4 after only having 68K Miles and 2 years of ownership did not have the same characteristics the 2001 GS300 had.

So I decided to Upgrade to the Lexus Flagship, albeit it is a USED Vehicle with about 67K MIles on it, the interior fit/finish is STILL "like new".

It's really going to be hard to TOP this LS430 if I ever decide to sell it and buy something comparable unless I want to spend Upwards of $60K.

I hope I made sense:biggrin:

Amen Mike.

I haven't upgraded my signature block yet but we've had a few recent changes in the Asis family fleet. We bought my wife a 2006 LX470 about a month ago which left us with two SUV's. A co-worker's son totalled his car and I ended up selling my RX300 (MY 2000 with 87K miles on it and like brand new).

Within a month, my Mom (who drives 150 miles round trip each day for work) decides to treat herself and she buys a 2006 LS430 (her 4th LS). I end up buying her old 1997 LS400 Coach Edition from her to use as our airport/ballgame/rain car. Bessie (as I've already affectionately nicknamed the LS) has just over 128K miles on the odo. Unfortunately, it was in a real bad accident about four years ago when some numb nutts rear ended my Mom at about 30mph. But Lexus put the car back together so well that you can't even tell the car was in an accident other than they didn't replace the rear badges with the Coach Edition badges. The car looks, drives, and performs like new. In fact, three of us just took it to AZ for Angels spring training a few weeks back and we avg'd 24mpg on the trip. We were comfortable, had plenty of room, excellent passing power... what more can you ask for.

IMO, a good used LS is an excellent purchase. Yes, if things go wrong it won't be as cheap as fixing a Civic but in our experience that doesn't happen very often at all and you just can't compare the ride, quality, safety, and luxury of a used LS with a new Civic.

I wish you plenty of happy miles with your 2001.
