Okay...so i just saw on television that some sicko Mom threw her 3 kids in the San Francisco Bay?? I cannot wait to hear how many people say she is not responsible for this....
matteni said:This is one of the most sickening things I have ever heard of. When things like this happen it always comes out that a lot of people had early warning and turned the other way. Serious mental illness can produce unexplainable and horrendous results and we need to all have our eyes open for those who can no longer think rationally on their own. Already it has come out that the woman was on medication for schizophrenia, living in a shelter, and had been perhaps tried to be hospitalized by her family (*we shall see if this is true and I tend to doubt it or why would she be living in a shelter).
In cases like this, regardless of the family ignorance, protective services HAS to act in behalf of the children and get them the heck away from parents that might well do them harm. Unfortunately - our society leans much more heavily on the side of Government not getting involved in the Parent / Child relationship then acting quickly in behalf of the children.
If we can raise awareness and action to protect children then those poor kids won't have died in vein.

Clearly she is ill - but those of you who believe that this is something that cannot happen to a seemingly healthy new mother, with NO history of mental illness and NO history of any violence should educate yourselves.

matteni said:I agree and would kill or die in a NY second for any of my kids. That said, if this person is as sick as I suspect she is - there will be no justice in the typical sense and the demons that haunt and talk in her mind will never stop. For someone this sick - the death penalty is a welcome blessing and not a punishment.
I thank God I am wired correctly, have family that cares for me and keeps an eye on each other, and pray we may some day better understand the mind and serious mental illness. We have some of that in our family and it is very difficult to get your hands around. Especially if the person lives independently and you need to take legal custody of them as an adult (with kids).
As the saying goes - "there but for the grace of God go I"

My son is the best thing in the world and I could not fathom something like this. He had his first pony ride last weekend and walking with him and seeing him smile has made me so happy for the past week I can't put it into words. When people go and commit crimes like this it makes my heart ache. :frown:

The TRUTH is that women harm kids just as frequently as men do. Men don't have advocacy groups dreaming up insanity defenses for them.
I'm confused and concerned about this as well. Apparently, people saw her do it because they called 911 on their cell phones. But then they just went about their business, as the kids gurgled and drowned?ak said:One thing I don't get about this story is that I think there were people around her and these people called the police but no one jumped after the kids, so although the police or fire department responded within 4 min, those kids were gone by then.
