Today in the city of Monterey Park there was a Highway Patrol officer with a team with a portable smog machine on wheels park off to the side and cones narrowed down to one lane on a busy street. The cop had all theses old and modified cars pull to the side and line up to run a smog test, yes a smog test trend mill and all on Garvey and Cusuda Canyon. Scary...

Well, it looks like the NSX stays in Beverly Hills, Bel Air, and other adjacent cities where street racing and rice rockets aren't a problem...... Thanks for the tip.

Is anybody familiar with other "sting" locations? This is scary. I thought San Diego was the only place doing this.

does this portable smog machine from the CHP work? Does it take the same measurements as the normal smog machine?

What happen if the car failed?

They will prob be Jerks and have your car towed. Cause if it doesnt pass smog it cant legally be on the road.

my guess that your car would have to be taken to an referee station to have it check out after its repaired?

Just like a pig they could never get full. The more they get the more they want. One day they will ticket us for a dirty car or having your low one gas light on. I can't wait to get out of California.

After I hit 28 yrs old, All my car have Cats. It is just not worth the trouble with today's high flow cats it only drop your HP rating 1-3hp. Not even humanly noticable. Its Cleaner, More quiet and Legal.

I believe header is a fix it ticket and some fine but Cat removal is a $1000+ fine.
