Michigan check-in & spotting by blodi pt.2

Walked into Victory Honda in Plymouth 2 weeks ago to get some hose clamps (they gave them out for free, very nice of them), and saw these in their showroom. All had not for sale signs.

The immaculate red 92 with 9500 (!) miles belongs to the dealership and was recently auctioned on BAT. Such a gem.

In other news, I finally finished the engine restoration and impatiently took the car out for a spin. Took a few tries to get it started but feels like it's running smoother and revs quicker than before, or maybe it's all placebo. Got lots of WTF looks...wonder why?

A lot of elbow grease, sweat, and engine degreaser went into turning this:

Thanks, I can see the pictures now ;^D

Yeah, let's hope for some more moderate weather coming our way.....I do NOT want to turn the furnace on just yet!

Some opportunities: Cars and Coffee the next 3 Saturdays (Zingerman's, M1 Concourse, and AAA HQ in Dearborn), and then the PCPS ride on Oct 21.

Good opportunities there Patrick, thanks for posting them.

Anyone else interested in checking out the 35th annual Battle of the Brits today at Camp Dearborn (in Milford)?

http://www.detroittriumph.org/BTOB2006/BOTBHomePage.htm

We plan on getting there around noon or so, and it appears to just cost the gate fee ($6 or 7) to get into the venue.....

happy for your post-up and photos of progress.

Took 2 to NSXPO - 1,038 miles each (420 miles to the event). This NSXPO was first class all the way around.

Elected to go around Lake Michigan through U.P. on the way home - sunny 66 F days and did NOT miss Chicago traffic at all. Saw N Central Wisconsin dairy and crop territory, Green Bay, Lambeau Field, Marinette (WI) Boat Works (apparently building U S Navy Littorel Class light destroyer type boats now); what Michigander has ever driven Marinette, WI, (sister city to Menominee, Michigan), up M-35 to Escanaba? Then east to St. Ignace. Big Mac Bridge and south to home today.

What an NSXPO adventure! Worth every bit. Road America track included.

Took over 100 photos. Lots not worthy but maybe a few good.

Returning home. Photo taken on north shore of Lake Michigan in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, just west of Manistique, Michigan.

Considering:

*This Saturday, Sept. 23rd - http://www.ohffautoshow.com/
in N suburban Toledo, Ohio.

*This Sunday, Sept. 24th - The last Baker's of Milford Cruise-In for this summer season. (also 5 pm on FS1 IMSA Weathertech race Monterey, CA)

*Sunday, October 8th - Toledo Cars-n-Coffee meet. I've not made a single one this season....

Neal, I am game for Toledo next Sunday; keep me updated.

Did the C&C at AAA in Dearborn this am. WJR broadcasting live, Lingenfelter on display, tons of snacks, goodies, trinkets, drawings, and about 400 cars. Nice.

Jaguar did this huge "Audition" marketing event last weekend; the theme was your audition as a spy, and they actually filmed you in a car (not moving, but with mounted camera" as well as in another green-screen set. Professional make-up people flown in from LA and Ny. They dropped your footage into this produced movie chase scene and sent an individualized link to your audition. Very fun.

They turned the Showplace into an elegant setting with tons of "rooms" created with black linen walls and subtle lighting everywhere. First reception, a room with a dozen different current and future Jags (each with a product specialist), then makeup, the two studios, then outside --- opportunity for a test ride of various models, then a golf cart ride over to two autocross tracks. Four fun autocross runs (XE, F-type R with the 550 hp v8), and a F=Type V6), I scored a BTD which was good. Of course, it was followed by my now routine post-autocross nausea and vomiting, but that's a different discussion. Back inside, for local food goodies, VR rides in concept cars, photos ops, and a nice key chain.

It was an elegant setup and a fun couple of hours...considering that a few weeks earlier I as there for the Michigan State Fair (every wonder what it would smell like to have a few hundred farm animals indoors? I know know), it was quite a transformation.

Hello Michigan NSX fans. I have just registered here under some not very happy conditions. I am not sure how many of you knew Steve "sparkin3" on here, but unfortunately he very unexpectedly passed away earlier this summer. Steve was a really good friend of mine and we had a deal that if he ever decided to sell his NSX, I got to have the first shot at it. His widow is not 100% ready to sell it yet, and I am in the process of putting the interior back together for her. I fully plan on buying this from her when she is ready to sell it. Steve had removed most of the interior panels to refinish them after having the car painted in Florida a couple years ago. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Meanwhile, I am sure I will have a bunch of questions so please bear with me.

Welcome TopHeavy. Sorry to hear about the passing of your friend, but glad to know the car will be going to a good home. I've completely disassembled the interior a couple times now and would be happy to help you with any questions.

@alum04org, great to see you guys had fun at XPO. I recall seeing a post at a local facebook group that someone had spotted the blue and orange cars on the freeway, and there were plenty of envious remarks all around after @Hass pointed out that the cars were owned by husband and wife :)

Sign me up for the Toledo C&C this Sunday. My car is undergoing some exhaust work, so hopefully it'll get done in time. I just had lunch with @Hass and @bmac today and they are both interested as well. Let's get some more folks signed up! Meet at Plum Market at the corner on 23 & Plymouth Rd again?

So far we have:
Neal/Cindy(?)
Patrick
Tianbo
Hass
Brennan

How about others? @blodi, @sca037?

Welcome TopHeavy, and thank you for letting us know about the untimely passing of Steve......he was very much an enthusiastic asset to the NSX community and we'll miss our quick overlaps at CJ's on Wednesdays!
I'm sure you will be an excellent steward of his car once the time comes.

I wish we could join in on the C&C fun on Sunday, but have a hard appointment scheduled so will have to miss out on the fun.

Some good news on the purple boostmonster front, the custom 'floater' clutch disc has been machined so now just needs to be balanced before we can get the car off the lift once again.

Cheers,
Brian

:frown: :frown: :frown:

SAD to learn of this. Steve was a bright mind and a dedicated NSX owner. Remember recently when Shawn (Tampa, FL, area) freshened his Berlina Black. And Wednesdays seeing him with his fellow engineers at CJ's. sh*t

Welcome to you TopHeavy.

Wish I could. NSX is still down due to oil leak. Hoping to get it over to Brian and Judis soon after their beast is on the mend. Plus, just really busy right now getting ready to move...within our own sub, but still...a move is a move.

Count me in tenatively for Sunday. My car hasn't gotten nearly enough exercise this year.

Another question for the group: Anyone else due for a TB/WB service? I'm thinking of taking mine down to Source One, outside of Cincinnati. They do a ton of these, and their pricing is very affordable for an engine-out service. Anyone want to carpool?

Hey Dave, I was contemplating a TB/WP service this month for our 2002 IOP, but now think I will delay it until next April or May. Be glad to work with you on it then if you end up waiting.

Sunday forecast still looking super - 79 and sunny

Let's meet at either US-23/Plymouth Rd. Park and Ride or Plum Market lot across street - I don't care, at 8:00 A.M. Sunday.

We'll see you sunday at 8am. Someone new popped up on the sk2i board this week and he lives right by me so I invited him, hope you don't mind. I didn't want my s2000 to feel like an outsider, lol.

Neal, hasn't escaped me of significance of TWO cars colors, automatics, and venue. Duplication of this pic most likely never again! Congrats on how much you enjoy them!

HEY Southern Indiana! THX for your greeting. Still regret not engaging with you at NSXPO Orlando 2016 - saw you and Wifey several times there but it was such a marathon. A ~ 3,000 mile marathon as I drove Cindy's TL-S down there and she flew down/back MCO. You had a long drive to/from, as well. So it was good to get caught up a bit this NSXPO in Wisconsin.

Let's meet at Plum Market tomorrow. They had a nice open parking lot last time and the store manager was very nice to us. Could also pick up a quick snack/drink there before leaving.

Hope to see everyone tomorrow at 8am!

PLUM MARKET it is! Significant storm front through here this evening (MSU liked it!). Forecast still favorable.
