Michelin Pilot Sport

I did, and I loved them. Running stock 15/16 rims, and had the alignment settings changed back to the "tire-eating" 1992 specs (stock).

Got over 35,000 miles on the tires before I got a new set. Included a drive to/from Alabama from Texas, and a lot of commuting. And I liked the grip.

Of course, IMO, YMMV...

And the sport cup tires are awsome as well.Better in every way than the yoko ao32r,and discontinued Pirelli p zero-c. I know this because I've got them on my s2000,unfortunatly tire rack does not have nsx friendly sizes, porsche friendly-yes.If someone has friends at michilin I'd love you to pressure them to help us.We need lower profile 16/17 sizes. If these tires have any usefull treadlife, they will be the answar for the arrive and drive track junkies.

Yes they do. They carry them in the stock sizes for the OEM 15" and 16" wheels that so many of us are using for our track tires. Click here.

Thanx Ken but size matters,And us he-men need at least 16 or 17 in., to fit us properly! In all seriousness I wish they'd make a 225/45/16 for the stock fronts.I hate to buy a third set of wheels and drop down to 15/16.But thanx for caring!

Yeah, but don't forget, you can pick up a set of four of those smaller wheels for under $200, and you can fit the tires inside the car to take to the track.

In my mid-day post-prandiol stuper I forgot I have big brakes,Ken.But you're right the 15/16 is a good choice, just not for me.You have to try these tires once you use up the yokos.

How do they compare against the Yokohama A032R? I mean, I know you said they are better in every respect, but for one thing, they cost about 50 percent more than the A032R. Better dry traction? Better traction in the rain? Longer treadlife? (They would have to last at least 50 percent longer to be equal on a cost-per-mile basis. And the A032R last pretty long, for a track tire.)

My experience consists of auto-x and dry street driving on the s2000,but I went from the ao32r directly to this tire. The dry grip is better, turn in is sharper, the tire is quiet,my only unknown is longevity. And I,m keeping track of that.Ken if your happy with the performance-cost/benefit ratio of the yokos then you probably don't need the pilots.I was looking for better auto-x times which I,m getting from the pilots.

I'm not trying to argue with you, John, just curious, since I've never heard of anyone using those tires before. Hey, when a better product arrives on the market, don't we all want to know about it?

I wonder how they compare with Hoosiers. Then again, Hoosier makes separate tires for autocross (A3S03) and road racing (R3S03)...

Telly used both on OTC. The A032 lasted for 3 days. The Pilot Sport Cup lasted for 4 days and about 500 miles highway driving and not even touching the wear bars yet!!!

I tested them and can say they are great tires. My very fast friend who ran them back to back with hoosier, said they are as fast as hoosier.

Well, it doesn't shock me that not many people know of the new Michelin pilot Sport Cup yet becuase they just started shipping them to us here @ The Tirerack a few weeks ago. We had the official introduction about 2 weeks ago. We had the chance to test them, as well as meet with the designer, who was a very cool guy. On our test track the Pilot sport cup yielded the fastest track times that we have ever achieved by about three tenths of a second, which is very impressive! Michelin built this tire to be a Hoosier killer. The tire is built in a seperate race only facility in germany where the Porsche Supercup race tires are also built. As of now Michelin does not have any other proposed sizing until next summer, but there are correct 15/16 aplications for NSX as someone above stated earlier. We are collecting feedback for more sizes and believe me, I'm pushing NSX sizes like crazy. When we tested we had proposed to use 4 sets of tires (due to the amount of people and laps), and we made it through everyone on one set!!!! And they were still not corded! That's 100 drivers at 2 hot laps each. Hopefully that sheds a bit of light, otherwise I know we just put a big write up on the website.

Aaron,

Tell your webmaster to add options to the website so that they can be ordered on-line shaved and/or heat cycled. Right now customers have to place orders by phone to ask for those options.

I discussed this with Wayne L. for the A032R and they were added (at least, they were for the 15"/16" NSX OEM sizes)...

I know we just put a big write up on the website.

Do you mean the description (see link above), or is there something with test results that I can't find on the website?

Ken, we can do that on some of the tires that are higher in production numbers, but it is hard on a tire like this becuase we stock much less quantity. If you call to order the tire the salesman adds an aditional line on his order screen and the tire gets heat cycled (or shaved or whatever). In order to place them online in that way the tire is heat cycled, shaved, etc in advance and assigned a new part number. If in the future this tire gains the popularity of an A032 or R3S03 (which I think it will), that will not be an issue. Right now, I don't think we will see it for a while. As always, thanks for the input. Anything that we can do to make things better or easier please let me know.
Thanks!!!
