This isn't meant to be an oil comparison thread (though it's got a 50% chance of going there) but to merely note that I CANNOT FIND THIS STUFF anywhere locally. Been to Wally World, Napa, AutoZone, Advance, O'Reilly's, etc.: no go.

Walmart said they aren't carrying it anymore and the other places said they can order it if necessary. Amazon has it sporadically and I've ordered it from there. But man, this stuff seems to have high demand and short supply.

Anyone else having issues finding a good source?

try this:

Before anything else, thank you all from everyone at Pennzoil for your loyalty to our brand and continued interest in purchasing our premium product from your local Walmart. Pennzoil Ultra is still being distributed to Walmart stores across the United States, with Walmart focusing Pennzoil Ultra sales in stores with the highest demand for this premium product. If you are having difficulty finding Pennzoil Ultra at a store near you, please give us a call at 1-800-BEST-OIL (option 3 then option 2) where a Pennzoil representative can identify the nearest Walmart location carrying Pennzoil Ultra. If you’d like to purchase Pennzoil Ultra online, we encourage you to utilize online retailers such as Amazon.com.

Thank you!

I have been having the same problem for the past couple of months with my local Walmarts and Autozones/Pep Boys.

I was able to pick it up at a local Wal-Mart, but it appeared they were closing out the Ultra. They had it in the clearance section for $21. Then with Penzoil's $5 coupon I was able to get it for $16.
I would think with Ultra being the preferred oil for Vipers now, there may be more of a demand.
As far as I know it is still the recommended oil for Ferarri of America.

I was able to find it at my local Walmart. Have been using it in my wrx for the last 1k with great results. The turbo really seems to like it, warms up faster, engine runs smoother and when I checked the oil it was still a golden color. Will def keep this in the car.
Havent tried it in the nsx. But she gets Motul.

Thanks gentlemen. Looked in the clearance isle at the local Walmart. Lo and behold, 23 quarts of PU at $5 a piece. Bought them all though most of them are 5w20 and 5w30 with a couple 10w30. The NSX takes 9-10 qts so looks like I'll have to wait until the Amazon shipment arrives.

After some digging, I found evidence (though anecdotal) that Ducati dealers carry Shell Helix Ultra (same thing as PU) and it's also rebranded as Quaker State Q-Horsepower available at Fezza dealerships.

Tulsa has neither. Woot!

Stock NSX: @5qt.
ARC oil pan: +.5 qt.
SOS oil cooler: +1 qt
Accusump: +3 qt.
Lines going to and fro: +.5 qt.

So about 9-10 qt.

UPDATE: the closest Pep Boys has been carrying PU for the last two weeks in the qt. size. Haven't checked any of the other ones in the area.

That'll likely be where I'll source them from now on. Hope that helps some one.

It's available in five-quart jugs at most of the Walmarts around here. This was as of a couple of months ago, when Pennzoil had that nice $10 rebate offer on a purchase of five quarts. I think that offer ran out at the end of last month.

Go to your nearest Walmart store, or you can use the "site to store" feature on their website. $26.97 for a five-quart jug. Great deal.

Pennzoil's website now has several offers through the end of next month, including $10 off on the purchase of five quarts of Pennzoil Platinum, 50 cents off per gallon on up to 20 gallons of Shell fuel with the purchase of five quarts of Pennzoil Ultra or Pennzoil Platinum, or $10 off on an oil change with Pennzoil Ultra or Pennzoil Platinum. Click here for details.

That is where I bought 2 jugs of Ultra over a years ago and went back a few months it all "disappeared" and no in store knows whats going on. Same with Napa, Autozone, CarQuest, Advanced, Manny Moe & Jack, and O'reiley. It was $27 as u stated and but Batmans link from Amazon saz its $53 with free shipping which means is $27 for the oil & $26 for shipping but its for 6 qts. not 5 qts....but still.......settled for Platinum and can't drive fast anymore.:frown:

Tim, i'm in the same situation with the Penn Ultra. It's no where to be found (in store).

I'm using Mobil 1 Syn 5W-30 in the meantime.

its so good its vapor-ware! I can't believe a global refinery company like Shell doesn't know/won't ramp up to meet demand....Must be gangsta. Vinny mixed the wrong recipes? Literally, all the Ultra on the shelf suddenly gone all across San Diego/LA and no one is talking. Waiting for 60 min. investigation sunday nite.

That's awesome. Looks like there are two versions:

Platinum Ultra PurePlus
Platinum PurePlus

But it doesn't look like it's in stores yet.
