Hi guys just a question for those of you running methanol I have the snow performance system & seems like this first bottle is lasting forever .I have yet to go through a whole bottle after months .Although I basically use the car on the weekends only is this normal ? I recall someone telling me every few days you have to refill it also does it loose its strength after a certain amount of time?

my bottle lasts probably 1500 miles (1 gallon). Obviously depends on your right foot and how much meth you dial into the system. I've had a 5 gallon container for refills in my garage for 5-6 months.

just make sure it's spraying when it's sposed to be.

A very important part of setting up a methanol system is flow testing it , you will need a way to apply boost to the controller (mighty - vac) , a stopwatch and a measuring cup . I usually time it over 15 sec. and multiply by 4 to get cc's / min , you will be very surprised at the actual flow vs. rated flow.

If you skip this test you are only guessing , it is like not knowing how big your fuel injectors are and trying to tune your car.

I have heard that an AEM methanol kit can be run by the EMS unit instead of independent sensors so am going to lean towards it.

Also can the fluid be injected prior to the turbine inlet for better atomization and cooling ?

Yes , the Aem EMS can control methanol , Any methanol system will interface with the EMS , not just the AEM meth system.

Each location for injecting methanol has it's benefits , I have even done onjetbefore and after the compressor.

Regardless of where you inject it , the results are amazing.

I have meth injection on my car and I have had the system for about seven months and it is only half empty. Of course I only drive the car about 1500 miles per year but, I have also done about eight drag strip runs. Do you have a light installed showing when it is spraying the meth into the engine?

My meth is in the window washer bucket, which is a little over half a gallon. On a track -- which is really when I really want it -- it will last maybe one or two 20-minute runs.
I'm running 400hp at the wheels.
Snow Performance has a variety of nozzles and they easily can be swapped out. There is a section on the Snow Web site that suggests nozzle sizes based on application/engine size/hp.
I have an AEM FIC, which can not control the meth, but the Snow box I have can be set to come on/off based on boost.

My engine dynoed 528 RWHP with 9.7 pounds of boost using 92 octane gas and a 33% methanol/water mix. I'm using a high end FJO methanol system that I modified and installed.
After tuning on the dyno, my tuner did street tuning and raised the boost to 12 psi. I am not sure of the HP with the higher boost.

Though my setup was not flow tested, it was dialed in on the dyno with AFR's. As i said, my setup takes a good 1500 miles to run through a gallon... and added 21 rwhp (without adding fuel or timing to the mix).

And that INCLUDES track events.. maybe 1 per month, with 90mins of track time.

If that with a stock engine??

thanks

Blaine, my engine is a '94, built with 3.2 litres, Twin watercooled ball bearing turbos, Air to water intercooler, Darton sleeves, forged pistons, 720 injectors and compression ratio that is close to stock.

I do. But the methanol is for fuel also. I have a turbo and notice that the car is faster with just pure methanol.

Just thought I would respond to this posting as I have a turbo NSX with methanol injection on a stock motor with new head gaskets and ARP head studs. The car makes 500 wheel hp on 91 octane and 604 wheel hp on the race tune. I run a 50/50 mix with an aem injection kit and use the medium nozzle. My tank is only one gallon and lasts approximately 2000 miles per gallon. The meth is used mainly for cooling purposes but there is some noticeable change in the a/f when the second stage cuts in at full boost. The dyno numbers are posted on youtube if you search mrsbozo. Although the video shows 619 hp we backed it down because the car was too lean at this hp. This is quite a reliable setup as I have approx. 20000 miles on this build with no problems (yet). Everything breaks it is just a matter of when.

I am using straight meth with an Aquamist system.....forgot the model number. I have the DD-3 gauge/controller in my dash for monitoring. It lets you know when the meth is spraying and also when you are running low. There is also a bypass button on the gauge face. The whole setup is wired in to my AEM ems somehow so that when you bypass from the gauge or run out of meth the AEM switches to a low boost (10 psi) tune. My normal tune is set at 16 psi. Depending on what psi you start spraying is of coarse going to determine how much you use up....mine was spraying to early and was using about 1 gallon after 2 dyno pulls.
