Meet & Coffee, Cruise, Sat Sept 1, Richmond Hill

Had a great meet. Thanks for everyone who came out. Only missed 3 cars. Had an incident at the half way point. Guess who's car ran out of power?

Look forward seeing most of you at Karting on Sept 15. Cheers

Typical dick in a family car thinking 300 (not even 300 SRT) is a better sports car than NSX.
Lots of those people around.
Switch 300 to Neon or Caliber or Corolla SE Sports Editions. Same people.

Crap... thought it was a 300z we were talking about...

Saturn, great video by the way... and no worries... I have a 2010 STi SE in Stormtrooper white for our snowboarding trips from now on. You can still bum a ride off of me!

Staging the right video footage is also key to capture everyone. Thats why I went up in front and then slowed down and waved everyone forward and then moved up again.
My walk around the cars still needs some work as it seems I bounce up and down too much.

Post production is key also to cut out stuff not need and show the best footage.
My camera is first generation ContourHD. The newer cameras have better configuration options, wind noise cancellation and other nice to have like syncing with iphones.

recent video where I even added pics. It has a mixture of older video ... bouncy video footage of cars driving by as I was hand holding the camera and then mounted camera video footage that is speed up.

awesome. thank you for teaching and sharing the cinematography knowledge :)

It was a Contour. Great cameras and the rotating lens is great.
Still the post production work makes the biggest difference in the end.

There are good post-processing tools to remove camera shake, which can even eliminate the bounce while walking to give a steady-cam like movement. I use FinalCutPro on the Mac which I find to be very effective, but similar ones exist for Vegas, Premiere, etc.

Camera shake and stabilization yes but with the amount of angular motion introduced via
Holding these small cmos cameras handheld, there is too much sensor wobble or image jello. Which unfortunately cannot be corrected fully.

Yeah, it does depend on the source. However, I've taken video in the field using a small consumer handheld that I've stabilized afterwards to remove macro motion from walking. You'd swear some of these shots were taken on a dolly or wearing a steadi-cam vest.

I've even had reasonably good success removing localized jitter from a camera I had mounted on my go-kart frame.

do you do this professionally arshad? i can tell you really love this stuffs.

Nah, just videos of the kids and such. I like experimenting with special effects using green screen, stop motion, and post-processed effects -- makes for more exciting videos ;-) Unfortunately I don't have as much as I'd like to do this...

the popular ones are

motion- works awesome
fcp smoothcam is great provided you media manage only the shots you need to stabilze; o/w it will analyze the entire file.

lockandload - $99
newblue stabilizer - $99 (i use this one as they are one of my sponsors; but it is VERY easy to use).

test all the free trials and use the one that is easiest/simplest for you.

what else do you need? if im not working you can perhaps borrow some of my less costly stuffs.
