help
my car is at the dealers getting a service, new water pump, and new timing belt.i am based in the uk so obviously my car is right hand drive.i ordered the 90k service kit from dali for the jobs.all the belts are fine but the water pump is different.
on the new one if you look at the pump as it would be fitted to the car there is a nozzle/pipe thing at the bottom left hand side that comes out of the pump.this nozzle/pipe goes through the casing that covers the water pump, and looks like there should be a tube attached to it.my problem is the uk car does not have this nozzle, and the techs at the garage do not know what the nozzle is for(it is a honda dealership,it also has the NSX franchise so the techs now what they are doing).
a new water pump from honda is approx $800,so i do not want to order one if the one that i already have will work.
Mark(or anybody else who knows100% what they are talking about) if you read this i would be really grateful for a quick response.

thanks for any help,

james

Maybe this is just the way the weep "hole" on new style water pump is. I admit I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure nothing connects to it - the hole on the old-style pump has been replaced with this tube on the new-style pump. Maybe someone with more experience will verify this.

.. the new style water pump weep tube is physically different from the old weep hole and is should be relatively easy to distinguish between the two styles with a visual inspection of the weep exit area. That is, if there is a tube sticking out of the cover, then it’s the new style pump, otherwise it’s not.

Which dealer is it if it's NSX approved? Didn't know there were any in S Wales.

The other thing is, dealers here don't automatically change the pump with the timing belt like the US ones do. So they've probably never seen one before!

i took the car to Two Mills to get the work done, and you are probably right about the pump because they asked me why i wanted it replaced because they have only ever replaced two since the NSX came out so they would not have seen the new style pump

i just put a new water pump in my 92, but i got the new cover plate too with a hole in the right place for the tube - you can of course use the old cover and drill a hole in the appropriate place.

YEP AND SAVE ABOUT 100 DOLLARS. :)

as long as there are no drawbacks (which there are not )
why not spend the 100 on dinner!!! SUSHI!! :)

the new cover plate came with the 90k service pack from dali,so there will not be any problems
