Luxury Car Help

If I was a doctor in Tyler, maybe I could afford both shoes!:D

Everyone has mentioned that the M5 is about 5k too high, so I'll pass on this one. The Audi is nice, but I would need more seat time to get a better opinion. I'm in zero rush, so I'll continue to post my thoughts.

Any updates?

I've been talking with a friend who wants to spend $60-$80k on a sports coupe / car, and is torn between several cars, including Audi, Mercedes CLK, BMW M5, Porsche...

i think performance wise the audi s8 is a good deal, but not in love with the looks.

mercedes have a lot of issues as reported in all consumer reports/evaluations.

i went with a jaguar xjr. like the looks, very large car but surprisingly nimble, and very light for its size. the new construction is amazing. all aluminum bonding process, more so than the audi. gives it more structural rigidity AND lighter.

2nd choice was mercedes but the only model that was same size and similar performance to xjr also cost 125k.

jaguar has also been ranked very high in consumer ratings for past couple of years.

oh yeah, the interior is superb, and the functions hoo-haas are amazing AND intuitively easy to use. never had to open the owners manual. Had it for six months and no problems.

an afterthought was the maserati quattroporte---but there are some apparent issues there. BEAUTIFUL car imo, but not very enthusiastic reviews. similar price point to xjr, ever so slightly smaller, not quite as good performance.

I haven't done anything yet - still driving a Suburban, which I like more every day. My problem is, I'd like to spend under $50k, but I really want something like an E55 (new). Just like always - I want to drink champagne but to pay for beer.

I think what I'm going to do is wait until next spring and then look at these 3 new cars:

GS430
M45
RL

The pics of all 3 are impressive, and all should be around my price point. I love the M5, but not out of warranty, and the A6 wasn't enough to get me excited every day.

Oh well....when I need a little excitement now, I can just hop into the NSX and go! :)
