Love??

Before I bought my NSX, i was originally looking to buy either a 996 carrera, or 930 turbo, i was a big Porsche fanatic, and til this day I still am. But one day one of my friends (Forrest) took me for a spin in his 92 with Intake, headers, exhaust, and short gears. After that ride I fell in love with the NSX. I've rode in other fast cars before, 993 turbo, 996 Carrera S, SC 98 M3, and
C5 z06, but nothing gave the same rewarding experience and pleasure that the nsx provided me with. The presence of the nsx, the engine noise, the 8k rpm redline, driver involvement/ and connection, the feel of the road and the race car feel were just simply soul stirring. The 996 carrera and the M3 are great commuter/luxury cars..both are great for going to places like the night clubs and bars, But the nsx is something that you take out after a hard days work, something that makes your day better, something that just puts a smile to your face, its almost magical in a way. The car gives you a natural high, and you catch yourself driving without a purpose nor destination:biggrin:

1. Driver involvement/ connection to the car- the sensory experience
2. Road Presence/ exclusiveness/ The "wow" factor
3. The engineering that was put into the car, and how the nsx set a benchmark for other exotics.

I first fell in love with the NSX from concept illustrations shown in car magazines...back when I was in high school.

I second that.

A tour of the factory when I was living in Japan back in the early '90's only strenghtened my lust.

Ferrari performance + Honda reliabilty = a true super car for the ages.

For me it was a combination of things. But first, being a guy, it is the visual allure (most men are visual beings).

The styling, with the purposefully black roof on a non-black car, the mid-engine configuration, the low nose, and the way the black roof meets the rear window and sweeps in to the oh-so-integrated rear spoiler, does it for me. Because of these features, and the timing, introduced right after my favorite period of IMSA racing, the styling SO MUCH reminded me of my favorite race cars: the mid-to-late '80's IMSA prototype racers, comprised of the Porsche 962, Nissan 83R and its variants (or whatever it was called), the Ford Probe, the March, the Corvette GTP.

The fact that it was engineered by Honda (read: reliabile and innovative), and of course, its formidable performance for its day, are icing on the cake.

First and foremost, though, are stying and performance to back up the look.

Me too. You just want to drive the car to nowhere. And whenever I take my brothers in law or nephews out, my wife said we always come back with a silly grin on our faces. And I always turn off my stereo anymore, I much rather listen to that engine purring behind me, it's very addictive!

Why do I like the NSX so much?

Simply because it accomplished what Honda set out to do...

...it's nearly the perfect balance of perfomance, aesthetics, ergonomics and reliability.

It's not one thing that stands out in particular about car, rather it's how all the parts operate together that always amazes me: how you follow the shape and reflections of the car with your eyes as you approach it, how the seat fits you as you slide in, the door shuts with a firm solid thud and ensuing quietness of the interior, the blinking sequence of dash lights as the fuel pump primes as you turn the key, and then the distinct sound of the engine coughing to life behind your head, as you pull out you have a panoramic view of the road ahead of you as you move...efficently, quickly, precisely, exactly where you want to go with all the controls exactly where your hand naturally falls, the shifter smoothly, solidly shifthing rowing through the gears... when you reach your destination be it important or not, and shut down the car and open the door, you hear a sigh from the engine intake almost as if the car is reminiscing about that driving experience and in a sense, almost sad it is over.

"The value of life can be measured by how many times your soul has been deeply stirred."
-S. Honda

How true that is...
