A narrow angle V6, 2,998 cc Swindon Racing Engines tuned GM racing engine is mounted longitudinally in the Lotus Sport Exige. The naturally aspirated 32-valve engine produces 400 hp (296 kW or 405 PS) at 7,750 rpm and 294 lb.ft (398 Nm or 40.6 kgm) of torque at 6,500 rpm and has a maximum engine speed of 8,250 rpm. When the light weight of the Lotus Sport Exige is taken into consideration, the power to weight ratio is a phenomenal 470 hp / tonne (0.351 kW/kg or 476 PS/tonne). The engine itself weighs 157 kg.

I've seen that posted somewhere before. Not sure if it was here or another forum. If I'm not mistaken, that is a custom, one-off unit for a customer with no plans for additional production. Gotta love the power to weight ratio though. :D

That Exige is to the production model as the GT-500 JGTC version is to the production NSX, ie won't see production). Latest rumours are that Lotus will export the Exige to the US
but it will remain a 190 hp 2ZZ-GE powered car with slightly lower weight and even fewer creature comforts than the Elise. There is a tuner in CA putting the K20A (JDM Intgra Type R) motor into the Exige and is claiming 220 hp NA.
