Will this car be the KING by which all other super sedans are judged or will the new E63 AMG retain this crown?

Few cars can compete in this level of performance unless Lexus decides to produce the GS-F in the near future.

Yes I know the Panorama Turbo is MUCH faster but at $150k+ and only seats 4 I find it an unfair comparo to the M5 / E63 crowd.

I've been closely following the new M5 and they say the MSRP has DROPPED to $92k which is amazing for such a level of performance and technology!

What do you guys think?

MEH. My 19 year old NSX can keep up with it's 12.1 second quarter mile.
And in 6 years my car will still be worth roughly what it is today and that M5 will have depreciated 60%.

That being said, that BMW twin turbo 4.4L will probably kick out 650hp with a little tweeking.

haha ~ I meant go FAST with the kids in town! Right now my daughter has no car to ride in besides our pair of family SUV's. She never even had a chance to ride in the IS-F before we sold it since it was too small.

Looking for a ride to replace the IS-F and seat 5 comfortably as we are expecting our 2nd child in July of this year :)

How does the 556 hp Cadillac CTS-V compare? MSRP on that is only $63k. Hmm..

Too bad Caddy does not have a mid-size sedan. The CTS compares to the C63 AMG and M3 class.

I am looking forward to seeing the aftermarket options. Hopefully voided warranties won't scare away the die-hard's :).

AGREED  Most FI'd cars have awesome potential with just a simple chip or flash upgrade. The 2012 S4 gains like 60-70hp with an ECU flash alone!

Scary to think about the numbers for BMW...hehe

How's the NSX treating ya?

Actually the CTS-V is considered a "mid-sized luxury sedan" right inbetween the current M3 and the new M5 BMW in terms of size. It's actually closer in size to the M5 with a wheelbase of 113.4" (vs M5 @ 116.7" and the M3 Sedan @ 108.7").

Length is similar with CTS-V being 191.30", M5 being 193.3", and M3 sedan only 180.40".

The new (smaller) Cadillac ATS is aimed directly at the BMW 3 series.

I'd say the The CTS-V only compares to the C63 AMG and M3 class in terms of price only.

in this new age, BMW's and Porsche's have lost a lot of their Ultimate Driving Machine-ness. the feel is just gone. they may be more capable than ever, though... so not all is bad depending who you ask.

I sold my M3 for an M5 and regretted it. The E60 was a monster but it was pretty boring.

Panorama Turbo is MUCH faster

Just get ready to buy a new engine at 70k miles.

You could buy a used 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 or G8 GXP like I had, wish I had not sold it.Its has a LS3 in it and can be heavily modded pretty cheap. I rode in one with 750hp, guy was a proffesional driver, and scared the hell out of me. Point is you can buy a G8 or GXP in the 18-30k range....just saying:cool:

If the M5 V-10 was able to keep up with a more HP and more TQ CTS-V (even though the M5 is 200~lbs lighter) then I don't really have confidence that the new M5 will be anything special (until someone dials up the boost, which we all know is going to happen).

better looking car than an IS-F - and more room - and won't be mistaken for a IS250 from untrained eyes.

a F with a nice set of wheels and a drop looks way better than a G8. imo

Naw. The G8 flared out fenders just seem way more pronounced and buffed than a F.

My 2 gripes about the F are:

1. Everyone and their mom has an IS250/350 and that blends the value of the F.
2. leg room in the rear is a joke if I'm driving and someone is behind me. I know this for a fact. My EX GF had an IS250.

G8 has a huge backseat, and trunk with a pass thru. very comfortable seats. Shifter in GXP straight out of the Corvette. Very easy to mod.

thanks guys for the suggestions but I'm not about to get a Pontiac, no thanks no matter how fast they are! My dad was an avid Pontiac guy I was always surprised how much plastic is used in those cars....just my 2 cents.

Anyways IS-F cannot be compared to a G8, c'mon! at least not in terms of quality or build.

I do agree the IS platform cars have horrible rear seat space (even worse than my E46 m3) hence my reason to sell the car even though I loved the motor dearly!

Looking seriously at the E63 AMG and also considering the new M5 when it gets released. If I had my choice I'll pick the GS-F but Lexus hasn't even confirmed if that is a model they will produce yet....Lexus really needs to get with the program considering Mercedes pumps out a new "AMG" every month so it seems!

Those Australian Pontiac/Holden/Vauxhalls are nothing like the Pontiacs your dad adored.
