Let it snow!

Not necesarily. Many homes in the colder climes are built with "cold" attics meaning that the attic itself is not insulated per se except the floor, which is the ceiling of the floor below. Our home is like this. The eaves circulate air into the attic and keep it cold in winter but the air flow is key to keeping ice jams from forming, gases from building up ect.I liken this to a house within a house. So in my developement all the houses have snow on the roofs.

I think he knows this and was pointing out that one house on the right, which had less snow on it's roof, could be the result of poor insulation on the ceiling deck.

all the roofs I see have the expected amount of snow......oh well no biggy...Now go back into hiding...

I just remember when I lived in the north that roofs with more snow on them meant that there was less heat loss, hence better insulated As you say, no biggie. In fact, it's not even on my biggie list for me because if there ever is snow on my roof, I'm moving!!

Stay warm.

Here are some pics from the other day. Looking forward to another 20".

LOL.....Holy cr@p. I don't think I can remember seeing that much snow anywhere I've ever lived up north. I vaguely remember the blizzard of 1978, however I was a kid and didn't know that I could live all year round in Florida if my parents were smarter.

Good luck and stay safe.

In reality that much snow is fine to marvel at for the young and strong, but for the elderly who need to be able to travel for food/provisions not so nice...there will most likely be a spike in heart related deaths due to shoveling:frown:

Meh, typical day up here in Ottawa, Canada

There will also be a pike in snow-related births in early November.

Hey, it's snow! Gotta love it!

Ahh! Forgot what I was thinking?? Think I forgot the hat? That's a gator.

Here are a few shots from tonight. The first shows the mounds from shoveling- over 6' tall near the street. The second shows the icicles that have been forming above the garage- the longest is probably a good 5'+.

Thank you, to the people posting pictures. I live in southern California, and always have, so it's really incredible to me, to see all that snow.

Well - I will be a monkey's uncle! 5 inches of snow this evening at our house. I mean real fluffy snow, not ice or sleet! Pics to follow....
