Leather Seatcover -easy to replace?

If you have a wife, kids, or any pets at home, have them leave while you attempt to do this.

I didnt think it was too difficult. I actually did my first NSX set a few months ago. I even installed seat heaters. Two recommendations, buy a good seat kit and find a GOOD set of hog ring pliers to do the job.

I agree. I have none so that wasn't an issue. However, I would add "sanity" to the list as well. I'm not sure my fingers have recovered to this day. :tongue: :biggrin:

All kidding aside, it is do-able and will save you a lot of money. However, I wouldn't call it "easy" by any stretch (pun intended) of the imagination.
 
Does anyone have seatleather from LeatherSeats.com?

Do they fit perfectly, like OEM?

Would like to make a purchase on a set, but worry they will show obvious mistakes.

WDYT (what do you think)?
 
not hard. Just be patient. Tear down the lower seat cushion then the rest of the fastener will show itself. The headrest has a pin holding it in place. You will need some type of flat pry tool or a screw driver to pry open the metal clamp stripe on the side.

Thanks for your advise and thanks for the link. It's very helpful.
I missed GB already but I will go ahead order seats from "leatherseats.com".
It could be a fun (with some pain..) project.
 
It took me about 3 hours per seat. Hands were pretty raw at the end. My covers were so bad I cut them off with a razor. Probably saved a little time not having to remove them the non-destructive way.

Ran into a fellow Prime member who installed the covers with small zip ties. Said it was much easier on the the hands than using the hog rings. He also said it was easier to draw the leather to the framing with the zip ties and made it look more snug. Search around here as I think there is an article on using zip ties. Might be an option for you.

Its not hard, it just takes time.

Took me about 3 hours to do the first one, and about 1 1/2 hours to do the second seat. Leatherseats.com has excellant step by step instructions with pics. Just take your time, figure out how the hog ring tool works, also have a good sharp side cutters to cut through the old rings. I got in on the group buy with leatherseats and they fit and look GREAT.

How do the Seat Heaters work? Do they do just the seat buttom, or the seat back as well? 2 Stage Setup like OEM in Acuras? Did you use the supplied switch or hook it up to the Acura Heated Seats Switch installed in the Coin Tray area?

If I did it, I'd need the Seat Heaters with the lower back heated for sure!!!
