LAWSUIT threat for owning nsx-targa.com

porschesux.com is available;-)

I just spoke with the attny. I am going to drop the name. They will sue me (100% sure) if the name is used in connection with Autos.

Not worth the headache.

If anyone wants the name (For a non-auto related product) I will give it away to them.

This reminds me of a similar letter I received a few years ago while employeed at a company that sold car trailers. Many Porsche owners purchased our products and we advertised in many Porsche-specific publications.

A customer sent us a picture of his track car on our trailer and invited me to use it in a ad. When, I did...

I certainly understand the importance of protecting brand and Porsche is rightfully very proud and protective of their brand, image, etc (even though they are probably a bit on the aggressive side). Yet... I find it ironic that the company that's worked so hard, building a very strong brand by exclusively producing sports cars for decades, is now contaminating their own brand tremendously (many individuals would say) by producing an SUV!

No flames, please

if I remember correctly, Palm has a similar philosophy about their copyright...

basically nothing related to a computer, or having anything to do with palm sized devices, may use the Palm(c) name anywhere in it....

ever noticed how there is Palm devices, and then there are handheld PCs, Pocket PCs, Clie, etc etc....

some ppl just are way to over protective...

side idea, make up some BS site to go on it, but set up a front page that says you have typed such and such wrong click here to goto (for example NSXPrime.com) or click here to continue into NSX-TARGA Lawn Care.... I've seen these kinda pages on lots of sites...

just a thought

This guy used to sell computers on this website and then Nissan Motors wanted to buy the domain name from him. He didn't want to sell it and Nissan Motors sued him over it. Thus, when you go to www.nissan.com you see the outcome of the lawsuit.

This one actually pisses me off. I remember reading about this one. The guy had been using this website for years. If it was me I would put up an informative website about a different brand of car. Or put up an informative site that listed all of Nissans defects.

Mike:

If he put auto related verbiage he would be sued through the roof.

Did you see the new NEI website? I just finished it. Put a damper on getting the nsxparts.com site done. I used a lot of the ideas from the nsx site when redesigning NEI.

I need to give you a call. I want to try some of your Zaino z-5 before I buy it.

Hope all is well. Call me anytime.

Bryan

Ojas: LOL ... u throw gasoline everywhere, then say "but no flame please"...

KODIAC: i've noticed other companies never class their products as a 'Palm'... i figured they didn't want to give Palm free credit. interesting bit of info.

nsxparts.com i think u should also register 'porschesux.com' and redirect all traffic from nsx-targa.com. Then on 'porschesux.com' u could post this legal document or just a big cheeky smiley linked back to this thread.

Give me a break! I'm sending John Stossel an email on Nissan and this thread. This is absolutely terrible.

BTW you can send John Stossel a message by going to: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/2020/2020/stossel_mailform.html

OK, after reading this I am upset. I have some comments:

(1) "Very truly yours." I've always hated this closing. Very truly your what? Your pain in the ass?

(2) What is the T for in NSX-T? If it's TARGA, has Honda ever admitted this?

(3) Anytime these geek lawyers write the word Porcshe on a piece of paper (yellow paper, I'm sure) do they always draw the little R with a circle around it?

(4) Why wouldn't Porsche want a picture of its cars in an ad that gives goodwill such as the car trailer ad? Other manufacturers don't cry.

(5) Did Honda Motor Co. have a problem with any site containing the letters "NSX," including this site??

You can count P-cars out of my future collection.
