Just wanted to give an update on my first track event with the NSX
The day was perfect.....sunny and high 60s I think. Ahhh....its great to live in California.
I was in group 2 (beginners without instructors) and the first 2 sessions I was pushing hard at all and letting a lot of cars pass by. But I was having fun and starting to get a good feel for how the NSX handles on the track.
I did have a shudder coming from the front brakes after the rotors got hot which was a little unnerving at first but then I realized the brakes were not fading and were still just as good so I overcame the fear.
My final session out was the best for me. I was comfortable with the car and decided to push a little harder. I noticed I was braking too early going into the turns and not pushing hard enough out of them. At one of the download meetings an instructor mentioned that the first time you hit the brakes you should be pushing about 80% of full hard.......this bit of advice helped a lot.
So on my last session instead of cars passing me I was doing some passing of my own and I am happy to report I passed 2 corvettes, a few BMWs, an old MR2 and gasp.......a GT3
It was a great day and I had a blast. And of course the day is even better when you can drive the same car home.
