KSP NSX-R Style Seats?

Studio6Zero is incorporating the RECARO logo onto OEM RECARO NSX-R fabrics for us as per our agreement. However, this addition is optional.

Also to give additional information of sizing compared to OEM. Here is a side by side with the Type S OEM seat.
Keiji-san is an absolute beast at what he does. However, embroidering the trademark RECARO logo on a seat that is not a RECARO seat just doesn't seem okay in my eyes. Will look incredible though. MITA will be replicating the ergonomics of the OEM NSX-R seats? If so that would be a game-changer. I take it you rescinded your statements in that post a few months back about halting any, and all, new future products for NSX. Happy to see that Marc!

I got my hands on these seats. In my opinion the fabric quality is great. There is no stretch or loose fabric on the surrounding fabric and a little bit on the cushions. It would be far cheaper to reupholster only the center cushions than the whole seat.

With the exchange rates the way they are, these are an amazing deal, imo.

Are the seats actually dry carbon now? I believe they are wet carbon.

What's the weight now? From the last time we redid these seats back in 2021, they were 10kg per seat. For comparison, our FRP seat with fabric and cushions is 6.4kg/seat. R seats are about 4.5kg.

When seated, do they still make a sound? I remember the suede wasn't that good. I wonder if they improved it with their second-generation.

An update on how our standard seats look. Type R seats will be posted later.
These use the Sports Knit fabric (to match the headliner) and perforated suede cushions to be like the 02R style.

I have these seats and they shell quality and Kevlar weaving is excellent. Recaro fabric is probably much better but these are extremely well made and comfortable while maintaining rigidity. I know several guys are running them in Japan on track. Biggest downside IMO is that it doesn’t work with a 5 point harness (same as OEM R or S seats and Pole ABE). I’m selling two brand new ones in Red. Let me know if interested.

Do you (or anyone else) know what seat mounts will work with the KSP seats? From the bit of research I did it seems like standard mounts (for Recaro PP etc) will not work with these?

I see that KSP has its own seat mounts but they are quite a bit more expensive than others. For example will these work?

I am using the SOS rails with mine.

MITA seats are better. I live in Japan. KSP makes great stuff. Don’t get me wrong. MITA knocked it out of the park with the seats.

KSP seats are made from wet carbon Kevlar, featuring a Kevlar pattern commonly found in Japan (which is a checkered pettern).I suspect the manufacturer for KSP is esqueleto. The QC sticker they use is the same from their other seats. In contrast, we source our weave (NSX-R weave) from outside Japan, import it, and craft it into dry carbon (prepreg). Left vs Right in the photos attached.

KSP seats weigh approximately 9kg with upholstery, meaning the shell alone is around 6–7kg. Our Type R seat shells, however, weigh under 3kg, and the fully upholstered seat weighs approximately 5kg.

The upholstery on KSP seats, to put it bluntly, is subpar and lacks comfort. For the price you're paying for it, you'd need to reupholster it to make it comfortable. This is an additional cost on top. cushions they use are of poor quality and beyond repair. Imagine cushions of cheap sofa.

In comparison, our cushions and fabrics are crafted using original NSX-R materials, including the authentic fabrics and urethane, ensuring that the ergonomics and seating comfort match the original NSX-R seats. Upholstered by the original NSX-R designers.

This is the key difference in quality, which is reflected in the price. If you're in Tokyo, we invite you to visit our office to see the dry carbon Kevlar shell and the premium fabrics we use firsthand.

I have KSP seats in my car, used oem nsxr power rails. The shell on the seats are solid and look great. I sent my seats to Studio6Zero in Japan to have the cushions and fabrics redone to match oem. Unless you have the original side by side, it’s hard to tell the difference. Really happy on how they turned out. Paid $1800 for the seat and about $2000 for the reupholstery, this is each seat.

Judge for yourself. 02R jersey fabric with ultra suede cushions IMG_4762.jpeg

The choice between KSP seats with reupholstering ($3,800) and our Type R seats ($4,500) depends on your priorities. The KSP option provides a solid foundation, but for an additional $700, our seats offer dry carbon construction, a warranty, and the authentic Type R shape and fit, delivering a premium experience true to the original design.

Both options have their merits, but if authenticity and craftsmanship are what you’re after, our seats provide that extra edge. For an unbiased perspective, feel free to ask Studio6Zero

Sport version is 1800 a seat.
We have adjusted the price of our standard sport seats to $1000 to remain competitive with other options.

Additionally, we are introducing a new jersey fabric designed to closely resemble the 02R style.

That is an extremely good price for your standard seat! Unfortunately I really want the Kevlar look.
Thank you! Our standard seats are indeed a great value, but we completely understand the desire for the carbon Kevlar look. This was the same request we had before committing to create the dry carbon option. We had a vote if wet carbon was enough but ultimately decided to give owners the true R experience.

If you have a trip planned to Tokyo, we’d be happy to invite you to our office to see the carbon Kevlar shell in person. You can also place a custom order to perfectly match your interior or select your preferred fabrics. Let us know if this works for you!
