This looks like the standard good looking NSX rear end.
<img src="http://www.nsxprime.com/photopost/data/706/medium/Nothing_to_see_here.JPG" />

Hmm, the tips are stock, but the attached piping looks a bit different.
<img src="http://www.nsxprime.com/photopost/data/706/medium/This_looks_stock.JPG" />

Let's take a closer look underneath this beasty.
<img src="http://www.nsxprime.com/photopost/data/706/medium/This_is_not_stock.JPG" />

Ooh, nice big piping with a shiney muffler.
<img src="http://www.nsxprime.com/photopost/data/706/medium/this_is_not_stock_2.JPG" />

It looks like the piping is starting to brown a bit. Hopefully they'll get that nice rainbow color like my Comptech Headers.

Damm this rear end is sexy.

This post inspired me to post up my exhaust setup.
I also love the stock exhaust! :D

The exhaust is a Hoover Ver 4 that fit my purposes perfectly:
http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71441
1. lightweight - 25lbs
2. quiet - I can't hear it cruising on the freeway.
3. good looking exhaust tips - OEM :wink:

As far as sound quality goes, it burbles at idle, rumbles from 1-2.5k rpm, and is pretty much quiet unless you are at WOT everywhere until vtec. Even under throttle in the 3-4k rpm you don't really hear anything unless you roll down your windows, but you can hear the sweet sounds in a tunnel.

Dyno video.

Dyno run with OEM exhaust at Comptech.

but I admire your commitment tothe "keeping it real" OEM look.

Nice to see another TurboHoses custom exhaust on an NSX. The quality of workmanship is outstanding on Hoover's exhausts, and you gotta love the ability to customize to your specs - nobody else has the same exact exhaust as you do. :smile:

I second that comment!!!:biggrin: I also want to post sound clips but I don't have any way of recording the sound. Maybe we can get together one day at Hoover's to videotape our exhausts.

Otto....I take it that Hoover was able to get my old cats to fit.

Yup it was a piece of cake. Well for me at least, not the guy installing it though. :wink:

I dunno, there are big pluses for looking stock near where I live since the law enforcement like to crack down on the F&F crowd. I also remember the time when stealth stereo installs were the big thing. Now a days, for example HIN, bling rules. I guess I'm just getting to an older guy who wants to be subtle. :)

i.e. CTSC hidden under engine cover except for shows, NA2 NSX-R suspension that looks like stock ride height but handles like a dream, OEM exhaust tips with a quiet exhaust, a vented hood that I'm too embarassed to put on anymore....

ROFL, I am what I am. :)

funny you say that,cuz those tips are what we call "BattleStar Galactica" tips:biggrin:

I'll have to agree with the OEM tips looking good. I haven't been impressed with other varieties. I'll be going down that road soon to having a new exhaust and would prefer it to be quiet and looking good like OEM.

FWIW, I not sure if there're many cops that can tell your exhaust tips are OEMs...

It's more along the lines that the tips are sized well for the opening (opposed to big chrome cannons) and the exhaust note is sporty, yet quiet. I originally tried to fit AP2 S2000 tips, but they wouldn't fit without modification. If I had to modify, I though that I might as well modify the stockers to fit the larger piping.

In the SJ/SF Bay Area tickets are a huge source of revenue and it's a tax I'd like to avoid. :tongue:

Regardless of what everyone else thinks, respect to <B>otto_joe</B>. You've kept the stock look (which i also like... who cares if its "dated") so all your bling is underwraps. Nice job! :)

That's funny stuff... nice find (and relevant! :D )

Wow that's really cool. I really like it when stock parts are modified to stay stock looking but have much more underneath. Huge ups for pulling it off! And way to keep it real.

However, I'm not too much of a fan of the stock oval tips. It reminds me too much of an 80's style sci-fi space ship (a la Battlestar Galactica) :redface: :biggrin:

So what type of vented hood and how much?? :) I mean I could possibly save you some face and put a few schekels in your pocket at the same time :biggrin:

What other bling bling embarrassments do you possibly have for sale? :wink:

I am for the dual coffee can look. GTLW 16.1 lbs :biggrin:

Otto got it right. I would rather see a "sleeper" just like his with tons of high quality mods and power but still looking relatively stock.
Steve

LOL, that brings back memory's of when Chromotose first got short gears and was able to pull away from Ben. Ben then though it would be cool to get a CTSC since it retained the engine cover so he could have a 'sleeper NSX'. I think I told him NSXs aren't sleepers by nature. :tongue:

I don't really consider the GTLW a dual coffee can since the tips aren't rolled chrome and will brown with use for that racy look. I seriously considered the GTLW but for dBs vs weight I didn't like the compromise. I figure I'd only sacrifice that level of sound only for the lightness of a Ti exhaust. :biggrin:

The GTLW is definitely lighter than the Ver 4 and all the other SS exhausts out there, but something about the weight numbers has always bugged me. Why is it that everyone that has actually measured it come up with 18lbs? :confused:

For reference:
The new Taitec GTLW weighs only 18.3 lbs (8.3kg) so it is much easier to play with.

Taitec GT Lightweight $1249+shipping (only 18 lbs.)

Better idle sound and weight savings are the real reasons I wanted this exhaust. On a bathroom scale, the exhaust weighed 18 lbs, while the stock exhaust weighed 44 pounds; saving 26 pounds.

Does anyone have Advance Titanium exhaust?

It weights 6kg compare to Taitec GT Lightweight exhaust 9.4kg

3.4kg(~7.65lbs) lighter than Taitec GT Lightweight exhaust.

So what type of vented hood and how much?? :) I mean I could possibly save you some face and put a few schekels in your pocket at the same time :biggrin:

What other bling bling embarrassments do you possibly have for sale? :wink:

A battered SOS GT500 CF hood and an Advance Ti exhaust that needs work. Both can be had for very cheap. :wink:

Now all I need to do is to hunt down a mint set of boat anchors for those days I feel nostalgic.

Otto,

I still have the 15/16" wheels (if that's what you are talking about) that I bought from you a few years ago. I have only used them once. Let me know if you want them back. :biggrin:

It wouldn't be the first thing I sold and bought back.
Now would it be like a pawn shop where it costs me more to get it back or do I get them back at a discount. :smile:

Otto

Sent you a PM.

Wow, this is going to be cool! Now next on my wish list is for someone to come out with a lightweight CF OEM style wing or a lower cost version of the Zanardi FRP wing. :biggrin:

how much power did that magnaflow give you on the dyno?

Thanks to ryan1926 and NSXBRO2, I've updated my NSX's look again, or should I say gone retro. :wink:
