Just sharing some pics of work I recently did. Was planning on keeping it stock but I couldn't help myself...

Made a tool kit of light weight Asahi wrenches, fuses, main relay, fuel pump resistor - to keep in the trunk.

Ikeya shifter, had to fab brackets to convert to LHD - a little painful, trial and error getting it to fit well, then adjusting the cables to shift smoothly

Switched out driving lights that had become a little opaque and protected with some xpel scraps I had left over.
Actually each time I work on the NSX, I'm impressed by the little details like the bracket that holds the phillips screw, dielectric grease on connectors. Banjo joints that have tabs so that they don't turn etc. Don't see that on Porsche's and definitely not Ferrari's

Hello

Firstly, I have to say that your garage setup is quite impressive. Adding the film over your new plastic lamps is a great idea. I think you can guess what my next project will be.

I am interested in your sequential shifter install. What was your motivation? It is fairly easy to use for normal street driving? What is the smaller lever next to the taller shifter for?

I think the stock nsx shifter is pretty good, there's really no good reason to mess with it. I do like trying different shifters though, and find that good shifters/feel can really change and affect driving enjoyment. (btw for the 993, the cae shifter is the best hands down - if you don't mind how it looks). The reason for a sequential shifter (not talking about a real 30K sequential transmission) in any car (there are sequential shifters available for many cable shifted trans cars) is mainly so you don't do a 'money shift' (ie shift from 5 down to 2), and shift a little faster. I also have/had too many manual cars and get confused with the shift pattern - I'm serious it can really be a problem. The sequential shifter obviously makes it different enough that makes it less of a problem. It's also a novelty item that I wanted to try. I don't think many cars have this shifter, it is no longer made, and I suspect looking at prior adds on prime, only a few of these have traded hands multiple times. This one hadn't been used much I suspect as no one had converted it for LHD and the prior owner never installed it. I like shifters that have short action but are closer to the steering wheel.

I'll have to decide if I really like it or not after spending more time with it. It is kind of cool, but you loose the satisfaction or the feel of the gears engaging. It works fine for the street. It is short throw and a little stiff, especially shifting up from 2-3 and 4-5. It is also a little loud. The small lever is the reverse lock out, so that you have to pull it to be able to shift into reverse - essentially you can't go into reverse unless you use two hands.

I've rambled a bit, in the end, motivation to try something different but no really good reason...
I've been lucky enough to have a few different cars, I think I enjoyed the gated older school shifting in the Ferrari 328 the most (once it was warmed up!).

It is funny how you mentioned about getting confused with shift patterns. I have the same problem and it is quite comical. I have another car with the reverse in the upper left vs the NSX in the lower right. With the small lever in your shifter using 2 hands to get to reverse, I guess you never have to run into that problem?

In your new sequential shifter, how do you get to 1st from 6th? Do you have to push forward 5 times?

Ironically, the H-pattern in the NSX is so narrow, it almost looks like a sequential shifter from the factory. :)

Yes with the small lever, there's no more of those oops moments when you start off from a light and realize you're starting to roll backwards.. (first world problems!). The shifter I have in the 993 also has a reverse lock out (and did on the F328 as well).
You pull the shifter to get the next gear. Here's a link to youtube vid. https://youtu.be/FHhJNkEKT7A

I bought an used engine lid from a prime member that I was going to modify so I can see the engine, will see how that goes and will post some pics.
