I've been eyeing a new and different look for the GTO tips, but something that looks like it should have com with the car from the factory.

I like the exhaust that are on some of my favorite supercars:

I selected the "D" shaped tips for 2 "form-follows-function" reasons:

1. According to a friend of mine at the local USAF base, he said that D-shaped ports (most famous one is the F-16's port) have low turbulence.

2. The bottom of the D-shaped tip is perfectly flushed with the line of the rear valience which greatly miminizes the tips from scaping steep driveways and parking lots.

Do you guys think thips will look good in a NSX?

Re: JUST INSTALLED: Porsche Cayenne Tips with Aerochamber

I think I love the acceleration of my FIL's GTO but the handling is down right SCARY!

Yeah but most people don't know that Batmans's GTO is modded to the hilt for hp, so it eats 99% of the stock cars on the road then shits out kias.

Those GTO's are not bad, I had one try to run me in my M5, it was good until about 120 then it's game over for the GTO.

Is this a late model M5?

I've killed 5 of those to date.

Let's just say that it's really starting to get boring racing cars where I'm picking fights with 1000cc bikes now.

I'm even thinking about swapping out my pulley for yet another 40-50rwhp to give those ZR-1s a run for their $$$$.

lol ya it's the V10, let me know when that car can do 205mph then we can race top end ;) Not sure if the ones you where running are stock or not. Also most people that own this car can not drive or know how to drive so that does not help matters.

That is true. A buddy of mine just bought one. The car has like 3 different driving modes. Most people just keep it in the slow shift mode and the car runs like sh!t. Still getting used to the fact it rolls back at lights eventhough its an auto.

I assume that your M5 is not stock. What sorta power are you making? Even if it's a stock S85 made on a Wednesday it won't hit 205mph. U'll need at least 600HP.

V10 M5 top speed: 155 mph actual (or 163mph indicated) with electronic speed limiter; (205 mph) indicated, 193mph actual with limiter removed

My GTO makes right around 600HP to the crank if you factor in 15-17% drivetrain loss from the RWHP.

It's over 200lbs lighter than a M5, has the same .31 Cd. In other words, no reason why it can't hit the 200mph mark and maybe even 205mph with a proper tune for more power.

BTW, my GTO gets the same MPGs as a NSX on the freeway in stock trim and with this particular supercharger I'm seeing 28mpg on the freeway. Once I tune it and have it leaned out in non-boost I should see 30mpgs.

There's no engine that I have seen that can deliver a combination or flat power band with massive power and sip gas when the power is not needed.

Best of Both worlds.

I'm not sure if there really is much talent involved when you are drag racing from a 3rd or 4th gear roll at freeway speeds.

Launching the car and/or negotiating the turns is another story.......

hmm, was said to be the 19th fastest car made and can hit 205 with the limiter removed. Right now I just have a flash and some free mods, prob right around 530ish HP, not sure what the wheel would be. I am waiting on a twin turbo kit that is in the works for the car should be out soon and if that does not work the new M5 maybe a V10 twin turbo with over 600hp stock so that should be fun. I love this car, it's like a big NSX and having a V10 revving to 8450 is a blast :)

Even though your M5 makes a whooping 25HP~ more than a late model 505HP Z06 with a weight of 3132 lb (giving it a weight to power ratio of 6.2 lb/hp - better than your M5) will be able to break the 200MPH barrier when the Z06 hits 192MPH.

Also the Gallardo doesn't break the 200MPH barrier as well.

Wow!

Must be a special edition "Weapon M" M5 that is due to be a collectors edition and may even double it's resell value.

Make sure when u install that TT kit u save $$$ for a second engine (and lower compression pistons), especially if you plan on running pump gas due on stock compression.

I did not want this to turn into a pissing match just going off what one mag said. Also I looked at the z06 and like the M5 better.

Here is the info on the V10 TT from the 2011 M5, Also if you ask me I don't care if your gto has 1000 HP it's still a POS just like people with old mustangs used to give me shit about my NSX when I had it 8 years ago.

How would a GTO be a POS?

Lemme guess, u think it's a solid axle? it doesn't have the touches from Bengal or the silly i-drive system?

I think ur getting upset since some Rustanks picked on ur NSX and trying to take it out on a GTO.

It’s no secret the next BMW M5 will use a turbocharged engine — rumors have been circulating from reliable sources for months. But up until now, most of us were expecting a twin-turbo V10. Not so, according to a new report. BMW will instead use a turbo version of its new 4.4-liter V8.

The prototypes of the engine are producing 536 horsepower. The engine will appear under the hood of the 2011 BMW M5, and will undoubtedly power the next M6 as well.

I don't think they are that dumb, they are going to go after Audi as well so it will be 600+HP, also if it's a V8 I do not think anyone will go for it after it being a V10 but we will see. Also the GTO is not a bad car at all but not what I want and no I never got mad in my NSX because I had it for 5 years, drove it about 25k miles, and sold it for 2k less then I bought it. How can you get mad at that?

Acura nixxed the second Gen NSX since they are focusing on hugging more trees (they're already hugging them). Alot of other car companies are going to, if they haven't done so in terms of following suit.

I suspect BMW will too.

Acura pussed out thats why I sold the NSX and they can keep the other crap they make, Think about this, why would BMW design a new car that is slower then anything else out? Here is something new about it. Also the KERS seems kinda cool. Also I love the Idrive and if you have 1/2 a brain it's a great system.

i don't think the rear ends of the pre-02 bodies will look good with those D tips because the tops of the rear end is flat. The 02+ rear ends may work, but i don't think the opening for the exhaust is wide enough to accommodate the D tips.

if it sits on the nsx exactly like it sits on your gto, it would look pretty killer.

I think those tips look pretty sweet on your GTO... I'm not convinced they'd look as good on the NSX... Need some photo shops or something.

I have the Down Force rear valence.

I'll take some measurements, etc.

There's also the option of using the Trapezoidal shaped ones from the later model Acura sedans..........

Interesting thread....

This is being discussed in the IS-F forum as well but I'm currently shopping for exhaust tips for my s2000 bumper :)

what do you think of this exhaust tip on my old ride...hehe

IS-F guys are discussing about my GTO or their tips?

Tell me about it. My dad was looking at one for a second and couldn't get over all the electronic shit in it.

Even I was mystified by all the driving modes and shifting techniques.

LS7?

The C6Z will hit 198 stock...not 192.

Tips look good on the GTO.

I was talking more along the lines of the LSx platform which includes the LS7.

The only reason why the C6Z can't break 200MPH is the aerodynamic drag for down force. I think it was a .34Cd.

The regular C6 was a .28Cd and the NSX is a .32Cd

ZR-1 is suppose to be the worse at .36Cd

thanks on the tips compliment.
