Just drove my new baby home to Florida from Va last night.. Blew a tire in N.C. and sat on the road about a half inch from 95 for over an hour.. Real fun, tore the back plastic skirt.. My question is this, when I give the car gas it seems to drift to the right pretty substantially, when I let off the gas the car pulls back to the left quite a bit.. I am looking into lowering the car.. Not sure if this is a shock problem, bushing problem or if this is standard on the NSX?The steering is very touchy. Cant wait to start participating on this board and welcome any input.. Thanks in advance .

I'm assuming that now, after the blowout, you are using the correct tires (same tire brand/model, etc).

Based on your description 1. car pushes to one side with gas, then comes back when you lift the pedal and 2. touchy steering, it sounds like tire pressure.
Check your tire pressures first. Make sure those are correct. Very high pressure in one rear tire vs. the other can cause this. Front's do this too, but it's usually the rears.

The second thing to check is tread depth. If one tire is very worn and the other is like new, you may get what you are experiencing.

If either isn't the issue, then its time for a visit to an alignment shop that you trust.

Good advice above about the tire pressure and tire depth. If you just replaced one tire, my recommendation would be to go back replace the other one as well. Then get a good alignment and you should see a big difference.

Thanks guys, I was wondering if this could be the problem.. You dont think it could be the shocks or anything to do with the suspension? Its is crazy how bad it pulls.. I will buy new tires tomorrow and see how it goes.

It could be shocks, but stick to the cheap stuff first. You know you need tires anyway, so that's a good place to start. Can't hurt to get it aligned with the tires, so you can check those two off the list. I restored a Miata for my Dad that would pull when you accelerated (also a rear wheel drive car) and an alignment fixed it.

I agree with all the advice so far and I don’t know how comfortable you are working on your car but if it was me I would jack it up and spin the wheels to make sure a caliper is not sticking. Then grab the wheels and check for any play in the wheel bearings or bushings etc. Take the wheels off and check steering and suspension to make sure that nothing is about to come apart before you drive it again. Just as a safety precaution.

Patrick

This sounds bad, changes in directional stability with changes in power point to a bent frame, bent or warn out suspension components. $$$

I will jack it up tomorrow and check for any loose parts.. I have a car fax on it and it shows no wrecks.. I hope the frame isn't bent.. I feel like it might be the shocks.. The tires are bad on the car as well.. I am running with one different tire on the back now do to the blow out..

Thanks Feetfxr. I need to get it over there very soon. I will be in O town on Wens..Wonder how busy they stay.. I cant really drop it off being from Daytona.

Give them a call, they have given me a loaner car every time I drop my car off. Sure, it's not an NSX loaner but it's transportation. Nabil and Oster are truly amazing and will bend over backwards to help you out. I'm sure they would even come over to pick it up at no extra charge...and I know what you are thinking...Oster or Nabil are the only other people I trust to drive my NSX...period!

Good Luck and Congratulations on the new car!! Look forward to meeting you at the local events and NSXPO 2006
