Just got a Ticket!!!

A traffic attorney that is good will be costly, but can get you out of almost anything for the right price. Do it. :)

speed limit was 55.
Do you really think a traffic lawyer can get someone off that easily?

Hey Ken...good idea...

1.) "What makes you think you can drive faster than everyone else on the road this evening?" -- Chicago City Police officer on the Chicago Skyway after I exited a west bound toll booth in a dead out drag race with a Jaguar XJR that resulted in me passing the officer at about 110 mph. No ticket...just a verbal warning. (my '91 black NSX)

2.) "Do you have any idea how fast you were going.....because you passed me at what had to be about 115 mph." -- Indiana State Police office in unmarked silver Camaro Z28 on I-69 North after I passed him going around 115 mph in my pajamas on a Sunday morning headed home. Wrote me a ticket for '95+' so that he,''...would not have to take the car and its driver to jail," on that day. Nice guy. ;) (my '91 black NSX)

(*So far my '94 white NSX has not had any interesting comments.)

We should post the worst things we've heard during traffic stops. Mine would be, "You're just lucky that our county jail is full this evening!", uttered by a Michigan Highway Patrol officer while he was giving me three different citations during a single stop...

OH!! OHH!!! I thought of another one....I got pulled over after doing a really cool figure-8 burnout in an empty parking lot that evidently caused a LOT of smoke... here is what the officer said after pulling me over and asking what the heck I thought I was doing....

"I know it was you....and don't say it wasn't because your tires are still sticky and kicking up stones....and those are sticky tires, that is an NSX, right?" (my '91 black NSX)

After which I showed him the motor because he was curious where it was actually placed....no ticket....off I went. All in all, I have popped the engine bay 3 times for officers and been released every time.

Find out what the local buffer zone is. Around here, it's 10 miles over the limit. You just don't get tickets for it. The state patrol has even said so on the evening news. The only time I got pulled over, the cop said I was doing 15 over.

Personally, I think they do it so that everyone will get used to it and take advantage of it. Then they can pull almost anyone on the road over and have legal probable cause to have done so if they find what they were really looking for (alcohol, drugs, guns, etc.).

That is often true. They may stop you because they are looking for contraband, or they may be checking to see if the car is stolen or the driver is wanted. They may NOT have decided to give you a ticket when they first pull you over. As Soichiro here has said, sometimes you only get a ticket if you talk them INTO giving you one, such as with a snide remark that may be perceived as a challenge to their authority. That's the reason to be polite - to avoid giving them a reason to issue the citation, if they have not firmly decided to do so.

Well, i had a quick conversation with a traffic lawyer today to feel out if I could get off, but he kinda thought it wouldn't be worth it. He charges 500 bucks, and after asking me a couple questions said it would be hard to defend me since i was the only one on the road and not in a group of cars. He said even if my insurance were to find out, he doubted that any increase they would levy would be more than what he would charge. So i'm begrudgingly paying the dang ticket and ordering my V1.

Do any of you with V1's have the consealed face and then have the display routed elsewhere in the vehicle?
I was thinking that maybe the out of the way display might fit in the ashtray area with some customizing, but was just curious what some other may have done?

I guess that you need to move to Florida where the ticket lawyers only charge $55 for simple infractions. Oh well. As for your question about where to mount the concealled display, here is where I put mine.

I think you should go into court - even without an attorney - and ask the prosecutor (preferably before your case is heard) whether there is any way the ticket could be adjudicated such that it stays off your driving record.

You have nothing to lose by doing so (except some of your time), and you may be able to have the charge dismissed.

Even if the case is heard, it might be dismissed. Around here, with minor charges (like 65 in a 55), they start the court session by asking a bunch of people to step to the front, and offering them a way to pay a fine and not have their cases heard. These, of course, are the ones with minor charges, not stuff like DUI.

V1 rocks!

A bit off topic, but I swear by the V1 now. In my area, they have photo radar everywhere, and in a matter of a few months after I moved here, I had gotten 3x the number of speeding tickets that I had gotten in the past 12 years. The good thing is that speeding tickets here carry no points, and are about 1/2 the fine of where I used to live, so you just pay it and are done. Insurance never knows. Haha, it's all about the revenue. No points also means that your face doesn't have to show in the picture for the ticket to be valid.

In any case, since installing the V1, no tickets. I just wish the V1 had a more advanced city mode. Way too many false alarms in the city.

I never had the V1 installed in the NSX, but for those that don't want to spend $$$ for custom setups (like the rear view mirror), I think the ashtray area would be the ideal location. It's tilted up for easy viewing, and you can close the lid for stealth when called for.

At least try to get it deferred. Then be good for a year. That way you're only out 90 bucks and there's nothing on your record (as long as you don't do it again) for the insurance company to raise your rates over.
