Pair of XI's (black and red colorway) seen on 2nd Ave today (Seattle)...

are you serious? A sneaker spotters thread

I remember having the original black pair, and white pair in 1991 which are now retro 5's. I wouldn't mind getting some of those and the retro 10's in black.

Rumor is they are releasing an all white and an all black pair of the IV's on May 6th (double release). They will be just like the blings, but with the netting. I will upload launch list once confirmed.

I just finished reading Jordan's latest book. Very interesting stuff. Learned a lot about him and the way he conducts himself on the court and off.
Had a lot of talk about the designing of all the shoes and the fact Nike was worried that when he retired from B-ball a couple of times, that nobody would buy his shoes anymore....that turned out to be wrong.

Nice to know that there are others Jordan collectors out there. I have over 50 pair never worn all OG's. Check out air-jordans.com.
To answer your question GHOSTRIDER "Who gives a sh*t?" I do.

I am a minor collector of Jordan goodies.
Two signed photographs
One signed basketball
Numerous plaques and posters.
Named my black lab after him too.

I am as big of a Jordan fan as anyone, but to clutter up even an Off Topic section of a NSX forum about a shoe siting is lame.

That is why it is 'Off Topic'. If you prefer to only read about NSX related topics, there are other areas on this forum for that. So please make yourself at home there if you don't like the subject here.

I have been fortunet to meet Jordan many times when I was a ballboy for the Orlando Magic. In addition, I also got the chance to meet his personal trainer/goffer Tim Grover. Jordan is a cool guy  Here are some pics of him and I.

Loomup,
That's cool that you have the OG's - I'm assuming first release, right? How do you display them all? Or, do you keep them safely tucked away in their boxes?

Although I'm not a collector, I like the old school shoes - I'm a fan of the Fila's (Original Fitness) and Adidas (Superstar) from the good old days of 80's Hip Hop and Break Dancing. Those bring back fond memories of my ghetto blaster and spinning on cardboard / linoleum

I care also. This is my hobby in fact. I collect shoes and have about 100 pair now! I have about 7 Jordans and the rest rare and OG running shoes and others. Shoes are very popular right now and speaking of shoes. The NSX, Jordans, and me may be in a magazine soon. It is called Sole Collector and I have been in it 2 X already if you want more info check out www.solecollector.com and there are forums for this stuff too. I have been on this shoe board for about 3 yrs. now.

I know a lot of people say you colelct shoes???!!! Yeah and I am not the only one.

Like I stated to Ghostrider, at least it is started in the "Off Topic" area. That is were it is supposed to be correct.
At least it isn't another thread about insurance prices, age of owners, jobs we have, mods to do for most power without spending $$$. Unless you like those kinds of repetitive threads.

Word!!!!! since we are being retro...

I am on-board with this one too-

I had several pairs of "OG" Jordans growing up- along with a variety of other Flight edition shoes- I lost interest for a number of years, but am enjoying the re-release of many of my favorites

For my money- the 6's were the best- I had 3 pairs of those (Black/red, White/red, and White/blue)
I also had White/red 4's
White/red 5's
and White/yellow/red 7's

My Dad laughed when I went through a brief drought in tennis shoes-
During college I prefered to wear VANs until my feet came through the soles.
I told him "these things cost 50 bucks- and they last- I can't see the logic of spending more than $50 on sneakers"
Dad made me repeat that for my step-mother, and they had a great laugh at my expense.
(I still have those college Vans- I once left them at a hotel while on Spring Break and the hotel concierge sent them back to me- something like that must be kept- I have thought about spray painting them gold and mounting them on a plaque- I think they look like like have more miles on em than my Lexus  ...)

Now I seem to be collecting driving shoes...

That said- things have changed- but I want a pair of black 6's again.

There are sneaker fans all over the world- We think of them as Rims for our feet so i am NOT surprised to see a few enthusiasts on a car- board.

Anyone want to talk sunglass collections?

sign me up as one of those who read paris' post and thought, wtf? :frown:

but after reading the responses, it's clear this is a niche area and i'm enjoying reading the thread. i also thought the post re glad to see a new topic was dead-on: prime is populated with people from all walks of life that have *many* varied experiences and view points... let's keep going.

somebody say "old school" shoes? i remember as a kid in the 50's wanting a pair of PF KEDS, so i could "RUN HIGHER, JUMP FASTER" while i was wearing my DAVY CROCKETT coon skin cap, riding my ROY ROGERS stick horse, TRIGGER.

80's = "old school"? i got yer "old school" right here

+1 for paris on this thread....

Glad to hear there are so many out there that appreciate the greatest line of shoes ever. I have almost 25 pairs of XI's and older. I take such good care of my shoes most people don't even know how old some of them really are. Dove bar soap and a toothbrush works great. Oxyclean if it's something really major, but then you shouldn't be wearing them in "danger zones."

I am very passionate about my collection and love for Michael Jordan's game. Thanks everyone for sharing!

Those are the white/silver XI's. I have these shoes and it's so hard to keep that clear sole from turing yellow! Even if you hardly wear them it still seems to happen over time! :frown:

Yeah, I have the XI with with blk/white/red in great condition. I tried to get the shoes he was wearing ( grey/white ) in the picture; however, he ended up signing them and giving them to Tracy McGrady :frown: I have been looking on Ebay for Jordan's and they are selling alot of knock offs lately.

Here is some info you might enjoy about what i know about what comin out for 06'...

Air Jordan XXI, in 3 or 4 different colors, The white/black - red which we have
all seen, the all red suedes, and 2 new colors that i havnt seen, Grey/blue,
like the lebron II's, and an all white/ baby blue colorway. He also had a
matching basketball for the all red suedes, which look alot better in person. He
also had a pretty nice low cut xxi in the original colorway, and a slip on with
no laces. He let us all hold/look at the XXI's, and he showed us that you can
lift up the insole, and remove the zoom air bag, for personal comfort on the
court....oh and a blk/red colorway, just like the last shots.

Air Jordan VII retro......in All Blk, with yellow stitching all on the shoe, and
little hints of yellow and red, similar to the 2002 retros. He said that its
supposed to come out sometime later next year, they look like the atl hawks
throwback.

Alot of Jumpmans and team Jordans, they've got a new line of Jumpmans called
Team Classics (i think), they have the exact same outsole and midsole as the
III's, and a whole new upper, similar to the big funds. They also had the 5.5's,
and a womens running jordan that looked like Nike Cortez.

Air Jordan V's, 4 different colors, all mid top, the 1st one he brought out was
exactly like the Nubuck XII's, all nubuck, little hints of baby blue, and little
bits of white. They were sweet. The 2nd color was EXACTLY like the New cool grey
XIVs, all grey suede and nubuck, with little hints of green and black, green
jumpman, green flame. He had the same color, but the whole nubuck part was
reflector. ........He said when tinker originally designed the V's, he wanted
the whole shoe to be reflector, but it never happened, now they have it planned
for 06' he asked me which one did i like better, and i told him the reflector
one, it's new, and they would be so damn flashy if they dropped.........then the
last color he brought out was none other than the grapes!! Yes, the grapes, Mid
top, Everything original, Grapes. The leather wasnt as high quality as the OG's
of course, and they didnt say nike on the back, there was a purple Jordan. I
asked him if they were coming out, and he said yes, late 06.

And last but not least, he had only one pair of Air Jordan IVs, The Military
Blues, Almost everything original, exept they had a White jumpman in the back. I
couldnt belive it when he brought the militaries out, he said "yeah, i thought
you would be suprised, we know everybody's been wanting them back, we purposly
waited extra long, so here they are, they'll be coming out late 06', for $125.
Unfortunatly, they were the same low quality IVs we've been seeing latley (Thin,
short toungue, leather heel thingy on the back, and leather triangle ankle
support thingy on the sides. The toe was not suede like the OG's, it was fine
leather, and the laces and upper were all off white.

If you ever have questions send me a pm. I have a few connects at Nike and am very well known amoung the Jordan collectors.

I had no idea what this thread was about...it took me a while to figure out it was about shoes. :D
