    Caveat Emptor!

Is Umbrella the only company that offers on the fly suspension adjustments?

First time my car has been on the ground in weeks. I got a big confidence booster today though. My lift kit works and I should be able to use a much smaller lighter tank. I still need to figure out how to lay out the switches inside.

Looks awesome Regan...

Two major issues I see though...

1- front is not nearly low enough when aired out.

2- you still haven't built me a setup :D

Nice, how many lifts can you raise without the compressor kicking on? That is a little faster than my set with updated lines. My compressor usually kicks on after the second lift front or back.

Nice. You got some serious skills.

Pare - I can't speak for your kit (I think I read you have a custom one?) but for my design it's really about the pressure and how fast you can deliver the air to each corner. It's a balancing act between how much your car weights, the volume of your pneumatic pistons, the cfm of air you can deliver to each corner quickly, and lastly, the PSI. PM me, I can help you more with your setup if you'd like.

I can get 3-4 lifts from a baby 1 gal tank which tells me my tank is way to big still. I think Umbrella uses an even bigger tank? From the pics it looks like a 3 gal. If you're willing to run a lot of pressure then you'll get more mileage out of your tank. In my experience though.. more pressure doesn't really make a huge difference in lift speed.

Just a hack with a cause!

It's actually got a little bit of tuck but I need an alignment bad! I also <3 SUSPENSION TRAVEL :) :) :)

If only you were local Chris! I'll see what I can do though. This took a lot of time to put together and engineer and I had to make some custom modification to optimize them for my DG-5 coilovers. I can see why Steven designed his to probably be independent of the coilover which will make it a lot more universal. I wanted mine to work in conjunction with the coilover and all coilovers are not created equal :(

This is my umbrella tank for both front and rear lift. Not sure how many gallon though.

I can't tell but looks 1.5-2x larger than my temporary test unit. Hard to tell the circumference though because I think my compressor is bigger which throws off the scale. I'll snap some pics when I get around to it.

Looks like a clean install Ric! Are you using thick >10gauge wire to power the compressor? That thing draws a lot of power especially if the wire run is all the way in the trunk. What's that black box in the back?

^^ I have no idea how thick the gauges are as I never paid attention to it. Got it from Ravi and AutoWave installed it as I got absolutely no skillz or knowledge in this sort of things. That's why DIYers like you impressed me.

The black box behind is just the cd changer.

To rephrase the question, what would be a reason not to purchase the Umbrella VRH kit? It's a well-developed product, tested and designed with the NSX in mind.

I don't see how you can makeup 5 years of R&D, and there's no point in going through the hassle of assembling, developing, and testing your own DIY kit, when Umbrella will sell you a kit off the shelf.

Your picture appears to show a slight downward slope from the garage meeting the steeper downward slope of the driveway. Correct?

Perhaps engineer a new driveway with an appropriate slope, sidewalk, landscaping, and drainage as needed for your plot/elevation

Fix that, leave the car as is... problem solved.. until you meet up with the next speed bump

We made an offer on the house today. Here is the angle on the driveway I'm worried about clearing.

Following your advise would cost him at least triple the cost of a full VRH kit with a set of new KWv3.

I believe it is a 2 gallon tank. The wire is 14-16 gaguge, I will have to look again but my guess is that it is 16. You are looking at black wire loom, not actual wire.

The kit is designed to be mounted drivers side, he has it mounted passenger side. The issue is that if you have a targa, you cannot trunk mount this kit and still get your targa into the trunk. Furthermore, even on a coupe it occupies the space a spare or flat tire would fit into if mounted driver's side. Ric's install looks like it allows for the tire to fit. He may have a coupe or the OEM targa cover so this may not be an issue.

I've had to modify my kit to allow my targa top to fit and spare tire to be used. My personal feeling is that while the trunk works for mounting this stuff, it is not an ideal spot for it. There are lots of spaces that would allow a smaller tank or two to fit along with the extremely hot compressor not being in your trunk (it can literally burn you), but that takes custom work and it would not be a generic kit. I separated my tank and compressor off the bracket (which by itself is 2-3 pounds) and made a custom housing and bracket to allow the compressor to fit inside the fender. You can see it if you remove the fender liner. It is sealed from the elements, and all the wires have extra jacketing and protection on them. I also removed the crimp connectors and did some solid solder and double heat shrink and loom work. I also changed the switches that go in the dash, for the same thing only ones that require drilling a round hole instead of carving out a rectangular one for the base. I replaced the kill switch with something a bit more heavy duty and am installing it in my glovebox. If I had the time and money, I would probably even have custom metal air lines moulded to the car with some custom bracketing. I don't like the way some of the line has to bend around corners. It works fine, but my day job is custom installation of gear, so I am a bit more particular than most people.

Depends if the OP wants to address the real problem permanently and add to the appearance of the house which could add to the value.
( this would also address selling the "fix" to the wife <-- pragmatic )

Either way, get some KWv3s

Yes my VRH kit was initially mounted driver side but it was moved to the passenger side because I had other stuffs that had to be installed on the driver side. I never remove my targa top so storage is not an issue.

people.

We sell a lot of Ravi's kits. And run it on our shop car. It is a great product. Excited to see Regan's and Steve's versions also. These kits are so convenient and handy to have if you drive low like some of us do.

The house is a done deal. We close May 23rd. If you saw the picture, I'm not sure much can be done to the driveway to correct the downward angle.

Looks like you will need a retaining wall and re-pour the driveway at a better angle - not even sure why they built it like that. Depending where you live that could be $5k or more.

Congrats on the house closing! We would have to see more pictures of the driveway from the street and other angles.
Might be expensive, might be cheap if you know the right guys

Thanks Fellas! My wife and I are pretty excited!

I'll get some pictures tommorow during our building inspection. The driveway on this house isn't even that bad compared to some of the house we looked at in this area (Up in the hills), they were just downright scary. Even my wife was scared to drive her RL down them.

Everyone in the neighborhood sits on a 3 acre lot, so I'm sure I would need to speak with a trustee before I started tearing anything up. But, I'm already thinking about adding a 3rd bay or free standing garage anyways, so.

Congrats on the house , gg

Technical question- I'm looking at changing from Tein's to KW, can I swap the cups over here without sending them to Ravi ?
Thanks.
