Is this NSX price too good to be true?

your math sounds right to me, your offer sounds good, make sure you are leaving room for him to counter as if it was me I would be ok with loosing some due to lack of maint. at the same time I wouldn't wanna completely pay for the deffered maint. on a car I am selling... to me 1/2-2/3 is fair for the old owner to cover and still gets you a fair deal. This is the route I tell all my customers to follow when buying a used car outside of our dealership.

So do you recommend he pays half for the maintenance and I still offer him $37,000? Or he pays for half the maintenance and I offer him $40,000?

Ever at $42K ist is a very good price...get hime to change the T/B and H2O pump...and you are good to go.

Which Acura Dealer did the PPI ?

Bram
Bram your reply was a bit confusing can you clarify. Thanks.

Actually I'm not sure, but if I got another PPI with a compression test done, it would be at Sherway Acura (in Toronto). I know they've had a few NSX go through their dealership, I'm hoping they've got good experience with these cars.

The only reason I'd be willing to pay for the TB and water pump is for one reason. If he does it, he might scrimp and save on certain things to save money. And I won't know the difference, I don't want that to happen. I think it's better if I can get a bit more off the car and I deal with the Acura dealership.

I would be surprised if the seller would pay for back maintenence. Of course it doesn't hurt to ask. If the car is in as good of shape as the PPI said then its a pretty good deal already. Good Luck

Offer the $37k then your math should work as it will allow the seller to counter and you can then talk about the maintenance work required.

I think your math is based on models from 1997 upwards correct? I don't recall exactly but older NSX's are exempt from RIV in case you wanted to know (I think 1991 thru 1994?).

Good luck with the offer!

Yah the guy hasn't gotten back to me, I'm guessing he sold it to somebody else. Oh well...

When they say exempt from RIV, what does that mean exactly.

If it's 15 years old, you don't have to go through the extra RIV inspection ($200) for things like bilingual air bag stickers and other silly canadian government regulation nonsense. You just pay your GST, and air conditioning tax and that's all.

Exactly. I believe you won't even have duties or provincial tax to pay but don't quote me on this one. Lot's of fellow Canadians have brought cars up so read the useful posts in the Canadian section - some good tips there.

Does that also mean you don't have to worry about the daytime-running lights?!

Since there is no inspection, that is correct. My 91 US car has no daytime running lights, and it wasn't an issue.

Drive across, pay your GST & A/C tax, and that's it.

BTW, you will pay the PST when you get your plates (if you're from ON).
