I just ran a quote on a 05 NSX with Progressive and I thought it was high. I am 32 yrs old no wrecks 1 ticket 2 yrs ago and I quoted it on my wife with me just a 20% driver. The 6 month premium is 830 which I thought was high. I would like some opinions and some options on cheaper insurance if anyone could help that would be great! Also not to be nosey but what are most paying for annual insurance. Thanks for everyones time!

I guess everything is relative. Type of coverage and liability amount as well as location. $800+ for 6 months seems high to me (mine is currently at $303 for 6 months), but I'm use to low insurance rates since my wife and I have clean driving records for the last 20 years.

Just got my renewal from GEICO. (They have lowered their rates in Maryland.) The following is the six-month quote copied directly from my GEICO account online. Although I have had many tickets over the years, I have been ticket-free for three years, and claim-free for at least 15 years I think.

1994 ACURA NSX Vin # XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Coverage Limit Deductible Premium
BODILY INJURY LIABILITY $100,000/$300,000 N/A $64.60
PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY $100,000 N/A $57.70
PERSONAL INJURY PROTECTION $10,000 NON-DED $26.40
UNINSURED MOTORIST INJURY $100,000/$300,000 N/A $25.80
UNINSURED MOTORIST PROPERTY $100,000 * $3.30
COMPREHENSIVE N/A $1,000 $47.60
COLLISION N/A $1,000 . $91.20
EMERGENCY ROAD SERVICE NON-DED $8.90
* see your contract, a deductible may apply Vehicle Total: $325.50

So $651 for one year's worth of coverage. I list the NSX as regularly driven, the same annual mileage as my other car, not occasional use or anything. I consider this a stone bargain.

When I soon have to add my 16-year-old daughter as a frequent driver for my other car (Mustang GT convertible) and occasional driver for the NSX, my annual premium for both cars will double. Right now both cars, same coverage levels, run $1480/year. With her driving, they will be $2960/year. I guess that isn't too bad under the circumstances. She will cost the same annually to insure as it costs to insure myself.

I'm 29yrs old, married, and I don't have any infractons on my record. I pay $1400 a yr, I also live in NJ! 05 Red/Carmel
I'd say thats a bargan for an 05 at 29 years old. I pay around 450 every 6 months full coverage through State Farm. It is how ever listed as pleasure driven only but hey, everytime I drive it, it's a pleasure.

YOU GUYS ARE LUCKY! HOLY $1,400 is CHEAP! I carry a Roadstar Status. Up here in Van, Canada, it means u had no claims that were you fault in 10yrs straight. I have a 43% discount and I'm still paying $3,200 Cdn for full coverage a year. Suppose to be $3,500 or so, but went with a private company on comprehensive to save a few hundred.

I wish I was paying 1400.00 a year I'm paying 2000.00 a year and I have 2 other cars on the policy. NO tickets are accidents but I live near NYC..

I just got 2 more quotes this moring and they are much better than progressive for the exact same limits.
Progressive 1800yr
Brierfield 1250yr
Alfa 1020yr
So def. shop insurance around that is 800yr savings. Thanks for everyones help!

I'm not sure all you know this but, I list my car as a weekend pleasure only driver. I have a co. truck. So if you have multiple cars and the NSX is purely for pleasure, some ins. companies will reduce the rate since it's not a daily user. Hope this helps.

what are most paying for annual insurance.
Oh, no! Not again!!!

Do we really need yet another "how much do you pay for insurance" topic? Come on, folks - this has been discussed here many times before. We already have way too many such topics as it is, and anyone can check the numbers posted in them by clicking on these links:

Finally, to quote Mr. nsxtasy:

"Rates are going to vary depending on company, state, town, age, driving record, coverages and limits, etc.

There's a very easy way to find out how much it will cost for you to insure an NSX. Just call your insurance company and ask. They can tell you, even without you having to buy the car. Or you can check an online service such as http://www.insweb.com"

Try Mercury... thats who i use and it comes out to a little less then $100 a month... i had progressive (great service) but they were way high

I'm with Progressive as well. No accident, one moving violation (1 pt).

2003 NSX
2006 S2K

$2450 per six months. It was at $1600 until last renewal, Progressive jacked up $800 bucks every six months citing "market rate adjestment." AND NO, no driving record change.

S. Cal is like the most expensive place for Auto Insurance. Or most expensive place, period!!!

That is twice the rate when I had my 1995 NSX and 2001 S2K.

I called Mercury and Farmers, they wouldn't even insure me because I have two "high performance" vehicles.

WOW! That's even hire than up here in Van BC. Are Mercury and Farmers private companies, that's why they can refuse a customer? Not until this year I believe, we had no choice but to go with the formally 100% government owned ICBC (Insurance Coporation of British Columbia) for the 3rd party liability coverage. I think this still stands if I am not mistaken.

I wish I was paying $1,400/yr. I'm 25 and for my '04 maxima, I pay $3,200/yr for full coverage
Yeah I hear you Minsbang! I had quite a few points a few years ago. I was paying $4700 yr for a 96 Chevy Tahoe. I was paying more a month for insurance, than I was for my car note. I pay $1400 for the 05 NSX, $1300 for the wife's 06 Range Rover Sport, and $950 for 04 Acura TL. I haven't gotten any points, so my insurance costs have gone down! I love NJ!
