I am working with my local shop on installing a 3.2 into a '94 (just like it says!!). Lots of updates and changes go in with it to make it a bit more track worthy.

I'm looking for some general advice on this swap. If anyone has done this before, please let me know how it went and any problems that you may have run into. We are concerned about using the 3.0 ECU, how the injectors will hold up, the effect of the 3.0 throttle body on the larger displacement engine, etc.

Wish me luck!

PM prime member docjohn he tracks his car and he put in a 3.2L like what your trying to do...From what I know u will need a 3.0 intake because of emissions.

Good luck with your project

Glad I caught this post.I have a throttle by wire ecu your 94 is still cable actuated. So you will need a obd2 ecu and throttle body assembly. My car ran ok with my 96 ecu and 3.0 tb.Right now though I am running a 2000 3.2 tb and the car feels a little stronger, but I am running with a cel. This seems to be due to slightly different vent tube sizing to the gas tank,as per Larry B.BTW My dealler did the swap, helped along with phone consults from Larry B and the ultimate swap miester Mark Basch.Good luck.I'm pretty sure though that your ? is can you use your obd1 cable actuated ecu and tb and plug the 3.2 l motor into it,I don't know if this has been done but I'm sure someone knows the answer.BTW if you do use a 2000 and up motor with an older than 00 ecu tb assembly you will need to seal off the extra low emisssions tubing,as it is useless.

I'm not so sure about that. I think that depends on how much of your car you plan on modifying to correspond to the 3.2-liter engine. The 3.2 was OBD2, which affects the intake and electronics.

What I'm saying is, I'm sure there are different approaches you can take, whether it consists of upgrading everything to OBD2, or downgrading certain pieces to make the engine run as OBD1. I just don't know what they consist of. (Sorry, I'm not that technical.)

Good luck...

We have installed 3.2L engines in 3.0L cars before. You will need injectors to flow enough fuel for the increased displacement. However, retaining the factory ECU is fine. We offer the injectors if you need them.

I was passing along information that I heard but not as facts. I'm sure it can work with a few extra parts....

Good luck!

My thought here is to keep the 3.0 throttle body so that I can retain cable drive. Also plan on keeping the '94 ECU and letting it retrain itself.

Chris, what size injectors are we looking at for this job?

You definately want to use the 3.0 intake and throttle body. The easist and cost effective way to perform these swaps is to keep the emissions system intact. For a 1994 you have cable throttle, which will work fine. So use the entire intake system from the 3.0, Change injectors, use stock ECU.

In the case of docjohn, we have a ODBII 1996 and an ODBII 2000 engine. That got a little more complicated:).
