all I have to say is, WOW!!!!!! this freaking thing sounds exotic. the sound quality exceeded my expectations. and the quality of the piping plus weight was impressive. made my factory exhaust look like junk. Finally, I give props to SOS for getting this to me so fast. Additionally the customer service is top notch! Thanks Chris & Jeff.

couple of questions. How many 97+ NSX owners got the exhaust + the adapters? I ordered the 1997+ exhaust, but was shipped the pre 1997 exhaust with adapters. No biggy, but was more of a pain to install.
(edit: I guess adaptors are a must on 97+ cars, I did not realize this. I thought that two versions of the exhaust existed, my mistake).

Secondly, of the people who installed with adapters, how many of you had an issue getting the OEM bolt on the small adapter pipe? I got it in, but took a hell of a long time!

All of the above, especially the exhaust spring/bolt near the rear catalytic converter. My mechanic had to install them in reverse (spring on the forward side of the flange). Sounds awesome...... I'm even in awe of it when I drive it with a get out of my way attitude....... which is ALL of the time.  ...... Sorry if any of you have been X'd.

I have heard so many good things about these Taitec exhausts. Some say they love the JGTC and some swear by the GT LW.
It would be nice to get more clips of these exhausts to really hear a difference.

dont think about it...get the Taitec GT LW. It truly has a Ferrari sound to it. Not identicle, but pretty darn close. Not too loud, very throaty, revvy sounding like Ferrari, and you can feel the power increase (I have the DF AIS as well). Piping quality is AMAZING looking, and once you pull your factory exhaust off, you will wonder why in the hell you would ever put the OEM one back on. the taitec is better looking, lighter, cleaner, plus smaller, so all of the suspension components are more visible from the lower rear of the car. It is so cool to see all that aluminum exposed! Oh yeah, one thing that had me worried initially was some of the comments about droning. To be honest, I dont notice it at all. only thing that I notice is the beautiful symphony coming out of those exhaust pipes:)

just get it, and buy it from SOS :) those guys are cool to work with.

I also want to thank SimonsS2k for letting me hear his to help me decide.

thanks. glad i was not the only one. it was a bitch and a half to get that one bolt on. pissed me off, but the end result was worth it.

Ghostrider, I have heard both of them and I personally prefer the GT LW hands down!

Supra2nv, congrats on your purchase! I'll bet you'll be red-lining every chance you can.

Hey, does anyone have a sound clip of the Taitec GT LW?

Jack, did you do your own install?

Kim, just come over and hear mine. You will buy one too I promise:)

Yes I did my own install. Very easy, except for one bolt that gave me (and everyone else) difficulty.

Jack

Welcome to the club - I was a bit hesitant at first when installing it, as I was afraid it would be too loud. After the first ride, I was in love - the sound is exotic and suits the car very well. The power gains (even over the Comptech exhaust it replaced) were pretty impressive.

Do a search, I've posted many pictures and sound clips of both the Taitec GTLW and Taitec JGTC exhausts.

I did not even bother with sound clips. you have to hear exhausts in person, no ifs ands or buts about it..

just my opinion though. I know you are helping though:)

my two cents.

goose & gander w/ Taitecs...

It seems like the Taitec GT Lightweight exhaust owners are much more passionate towards their exhausts than the Taitec JGTC Parallel exhaust owners are towards their own... The weight-savings combined w/ the sound, and performance gains, I guess must be very gratifying.

I prefer the Taitec JGTC Parallel exhaust in terms of sound, construction, and style. Therefore I own one. But myself and my contemporaries are nowhere as close to euphoric and enthusiastic as the GTLW owners!?!

I'm a GTLW owner who's not euphoric. I like the weight savings and power gain. I don't like the LOUD low frequencies every time I touch (even lightly) the gas. :frown: I do like the sound when I have the windows open and am getting on it. But you can't have everything.

Glad to hear another unsatisfied owner. I felt like I was the only one. I coudlnt stand mine and sold it in 2 weeks. The droning gave me a headache daily.

Silencer that came with GTLW exhaust will eliminate the lower frequencies, yet even with silencer on it still make more rwhp gain than most other exhausts. No one can deny the bold fact of the actual power gain.

Personally I actually really like the low frequencies in lower rpms and love the higher pitch sound up in higher rpms, almost like having 2 completely different sounding exhausts in 1.

I attend different car meets frequently, people make nice compliments all the time even from NSX haters. Ferrari and Supra owners I have meet so far all think it sounded great, some even asked what kind of exhaust is it.

Some of the super Japanese sports cars in Japan have this low frequency sound. Something you don't hear often on any cars in the States.

Obviously it is not for everyone, living in California and visit Japan frequently, I guess I am used to hear far louder exhausts on other cars.

I can see voicing opinions if I am disatisfied with an item, but once or twice is enough, voicing opinion time after time after time again, at every single post about the same exhaust regardless if other member is satisifed or discatisfied is way over kill, imho.

Guys and Gails,

Is the negative side of this upgrade really that bad (low frequency droning)?

Is the power gain really noticable?

For me only:

1) Yes, sold it in 2 weeks.

2) There is a noticeable power gain in upper RPM. With my Anytime Exhaust I felt a noticeable power gain in the mid and upper RPM. -- The car was 100% stock except for exhaust.
