My 03 finally has enough miles for the initial 'tune-up'.

I don't have the time to bring it to Marin Acura...unless I couuld get a 'courtesy car' but they don't give lonars for 'tune-ups' even if it is a NSX.

Should I bring it to Serramonte Acura or Hilltop auto. Isn't the initial tune basically a oil change? and 'once over'

I get a loaner every time I get my NSX serviced there if I need it (during the work week). Talk to Dean Harrend. Last one I had was a new TL with the GPS unit - great device.

are you sure...I am talking about MARIN ACURA.

I talked to Dean...and told him I live in San Francisco and work in South San Francisco. He told me, we can put you on the bus or give you a ride to the ferry since our shuttle service only services Marin County.

I even purchased my car at Marin Acura.

I get better service from Mercedes Benz on my $50k 7year old E430.

Maybe I should have got the SL55. I don't think MARIN ACURA knows what customer service is...

Well, I live in Marin so didn't consider their restriction on loaners to the county. Doestn't really make sense because I drove it to work in SF anyway. I'll ask Dean next time I see him.

Where in the sales contract does it stipulate that a dealership is mandated to provide a loaner car? Having said that, with today's competition in cars sales, most dealerships do this on warranty jobs but not regular maintenance jobs.

Think about it.....if you are a dealership, who would you first provide a loaner car to (a) a customer that can make life miserable by complaining to the manufacturer about a warranty issue or (b) a customer whining because they are bringing the car in for routine maintenance? If I was the dealership and you are (b) I would politely (maybe not if you are belligerent) explain that loaner cars are limited on a first-come-first-serve basis, with priority to warranty customers. If you come in for an oil change and we have a loaner car available for the day, you will get it. But don’t expect it just because you drive an NSX. And before you backlash at me, I dropped my NSX off to have the fluids changed a few years ago. Unfortunately the dealership had all of their loaner cars out. No big deal, I asked a friend to pick me up. I sure didn’t trip over my bottom lip of the situation.

I choose (c).
I'm working with a rare type of Acura enthusiast who buys a 90k car. The odds of them doing so again are pretty good, and i'm willing to spend the extra money to cater to them so that their next purchase comes from MY dealership. Besides, i know if i dont pamper them the next dealer down the road will, and customers tend to remember that kind of treatment.

This is why Vegas casinos bend over backwards for their high rollers

Acura of Cleveland gave me a TSX loaner car last year when I had my NSX in for an ABS and Collant flush. In fact, i got ABS, coolant, and brake fluid change in addition to a coolant hose replacement per a 1992 TSB all for $125. Good service and people there. I know you're not in the area, but it just shows what some dealers will do for their customers.

Whenever I have brought any of my Acuras in to service I have always been given a loaner. Now keep in mind, I have had to make an appointment a few days to a week in advance so they would have one for me.

As a side note, our dealership just decided to eliminate the job of a driver for a courtesy van we had. We could take customers to and from dealership to drop off and retrieve their cars. Now we are offering to pay a cab one way for them

chill and have a nice day

I was only asking for polite courtesy not 'white glove'. I hope the rest of your life is simple 'black and white'

Thanks.

Correct, my life has no "gray area" in it. Many would argue that I also have no "gray matter" upstairs.

Check out a thread by me this morning in the "Off Topic" category. I like debates.

It's sad but some Acura dealerships are pretty bad wrt service, slimy salespeople, etc. SOME are very good; try a few in your area, and you'll know right away who you like and dislike.

In Seattle, Acura of Seattle and Lynnwood Acura have both given me some hastles in sales and service, but Bellevue Acura has been beyond reproach.

By the way, what's the mileage on your car? It sounds like you may just need your first oil change.... Just take 30 min, jack it up and throw a oem filter and some mobil 1 in that bad boy. it's a honda
