Infiniti QX56

other than gas mileage; they are great trucks! Someone traded one in on a MDX and I drove it for the week. Much dinero for gas money:frown: What happened to something cool and sporty. The S2K idea was cool and the 356 replica was a great idea. Youd have to change your name to Dylan Mckay:tongue:

Front rotors warp....

the older ones had major front braking problems,,and yes they seem to have addressed the problem with updated parts....my Friend that still works for Infiniti (I left Infiniti in 99) says they have more rattles and squeks than other Infinitis... FYI....JZ

I have some opinions on the matter here on FreshAlloy forums. It was a early production one, but I work at an Infiniti dealer and the techs and service guys all shake their heads when it comes to the QX56. Trim falling off, rattles galore, headliner issues, etc. I would steer clear and possibly check out the Sequoia, if that suits your fancy. Resale values also are always killer on Toyotas.
A pic of the Sequoia and the Armada (QX56 Bro)

The Infiniti techs I know say that they do have some trim/rattle issues however the drivetrain is for the most part, bullet proof.

Brett...if you are gonna take the interior apart and do one of your jobs on it, these issues prolly wont matter to you..the Toyotas are nice too though....JZ

this car will be for a daily driver. the ones I drove seemed to be pretty solid although I did notice alot of plastic parts for a high-end vehicle. I drove an Armada and a QX back to back and there is a world of difference even though they are based on the same truck.

FWIW - my friend bought an Armada about 1 1/2 years ago and absolutely loves it. It's big, powerful, roomy, and pretty nice inside, which only gets improved in the Q. I think they look sweet, and the one time I rode in one it was a pretty smooth ride - I didn't hear any squeaks or rattles, but I wasn't in it for long.

I still vote for the 356 or 550 replica from Chuck Beck!

there is a service bulletin on the headliners, and the repair is an ugly job, one of your guys should be able to fix it prolly better than the Infiniti dealer will.

suposedly the new ones don't have the issue..

My friend At Infiniti says "If he likes his Hummer and Landrovers he will love the QX56"

the Toyotas just don't have the power that the Nissan 56DE engine does.

Sucks Gas at an alarming rate!!

They keep replacing the brakes with the same parts, not newly designed ones. Check out this buy back this guy did because of the brakes here.

According to My Friend that is an Infiniti Master Tech, the Brakes have been updated with new parts and no longer have braking issues....JZ

"like, so cool. man."

Dylan's gal-pal & business-partner/friend, Valerie Malone drove a Berlina black NSX-T... coincidence, I think not!

Infiniti QX56

My cousin has a Nissan Titan; chassis/drive-train (engine/transmission) seem nearly bullet-proof. Ditto on the over-use of plastics, though.

Nissan Patrol (the XL foreign version of the Armada/QX56) is legendary. Very good reputation; at times mentioned in the same breath as Landcruiser (Amazon spec'), Pajero (XL foreign version of Mitsu's Montero), and Range Rover.

Seems like Toyota has the full-size/luxury import SUV market on ice... 4Runner/GX470 Landcruiser/LX470, Sequoia.

the Service bulletin for the brake issue is 04-026E...this issue has been very complicated,,in that the "E" designation is because the bulletin has been amended 5 times to solve the problem...the frist fix was A and so on

A resurface the rotors.

B resurface the rotors, replace the pads,

C resurface the rotors and replace the pads and the caliper brackets.

D resurface rotors, replaced pads and caliper bracket, and adjust pedal hight.

E replace rotors with countermeasure rotors, replace caliper bracket, pads, adjust pedal hight, resurface rear rotors and replace rear pads.

"E" the last one seems to have fixed to problem.

Nissan had a huge problem when they released to countermeasure rotors because the had nowhere neer enough to put on all the vehicles effected,
waiting lists formed and many cars (mostly in CAL) were bought back.

The 05s have all the updates and seem to be brake trouble free....JZ
