I've been wanting to get a used NSX for a while now, but I've run into a problem. I saw one at a dealer the other day, and he let me sit in it, and I'm just too tall to fit in it comfortably. I estimate that if I were one or two inches shorter, I would fit (I am 6'3"). Are any of you guys near my height who fit nicely into your cars, or is there a way to lower myself in the car so that my head isn't scrunch down between my shoulders? Affording a late enough model to get a targa top is way out of the question for me. What to do? Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

There are modifications to the OEM seat that can be done to lower the height approx. 1 1/2 inches. One of our taller Northeast members had this done this past weekend in order to facilitate wearing a helmet at track events. Check Dali Racing's web site for info.

Wow. That's absolutely fantastic. Is there anyone near LA that has a lowered seat that would be willing to let me sit in their car to see what it feels like?

Daliracing sells a replacement for the lower cushion that drops the seat height by almost 2 inches. I purchased one and I can guarantee that you will fit. I have drivers in my car that are 6'3" and 6'4" and they both fit fine.

Go to the FAQ on this site for installation instructions. The plastic tabs on the bottom back of the seat do not need to be broken if u use a wire and string it through the plastci fitting and pull gently and both ends at the same time.

Louisiana or Los Angeles?

I'm 6'3" and fit fairly comfortably. Although I don't think I would with a helmet on

You may get some extra room if you move the seat up and recline the back. Then again my height is from legs where you may be taller in the torso

Is there more headroom in a coupe or a T? I'm 6'1" and fit with room to spare in my coupe.

Jimbo,

No way. She is alive and well! I will only sell her if it has to be done in trade for a college tuition

Wow, thanks guys. You guys REALLY are enthusiatic about your cars.
And yes, much of my height comes from my torso, and I live in Los Angeles, not in Louisiana.
Also, there is a dealer listing on this site for a 91 with 21,000 miles on it going for $21,500. Is this too good to be true? The heading had that much info, but there was nothing posted in the message box. If what it says is true, that would be the only one NSX that I could realistically afford right now, but I don't want to get my hopes up if such a deal probably doesn't really exist.

I want to be stunt driver and I'd like to find a great performance car--or, rather, an NSX--to have some fun with and practice my moves at the track, so that's why I'm looking for one (also because the NSX seems to be everything I've ever wanted in a car). There's a little this new comer

Thanks again for all the feedback and advice.

I am 6'3", with a much longer torso than legs (shirt 36", inseam 33"). Removing the seat cushion is by far the easiest, but do not count out taking out your headliner. Another 1 1/2 to 2 inches there as well. Be sure to get a car with a black interior. The ivory means a black cushion from Dali in almost white seats.

Another option if you are not planning on tracking the car would be aftermarket seats that still recline, such as sparco, corbeau, etc. Much thinner seat cushion. I track my car without a seat cushion at all, just sitting on the aluminum frame, which sits right on the floor, and also remove the headliner to gain enough head room for my helmet.

Now that's dedication. You dond even bring a throw pillow to sit on or anything? Do you race, or just like driving fast? Isn't it awkwar with your legs runing paralell to the floor (I'd imagine that your knees are bent up toward the roof). Did it take some getting used to? What's the head liner? It the upholstry for the "ceiling"?

HA-HA. Actually it is not even noticeable. Plus it hugs your hips much better, so not nearly as much sliding around in corners. I am just doing drivers education type events, not wheel to wheel, but still get up to 140 on the longer straitghts. The headliner is the black lining the interior of the roof. Good luck with your hunting.

Driver's ed, huh? I'm thinking about going to stunt driving school probably after this summer. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that kind of stuff would you, like how much the average class costs etc.
