I need to gauge interest in an NSX West Fest

Kelowna or either Vernon/Penticton are fine for me. It's a 7-8 hour for guys from Calgary and a 4-5 hour drive for those from Vancouver. You will get a lame turnout for a "west fest" if you simply leave it to the lower mainland.

JM $0.02.

Yes exactly, thats why we are doing the event in Kelowna. By the time I drive to Vancouver to meet up and drive to Kelowna it will be about 7-8 hours as well. Thats why we'll hit it up here in BC in '08 and Alberta in '09. Kelowna is a very nice spot and with the abundance of car related events we are blessed. The only thing we need to count on now is great weather and an awesome turnout. We should have the accomodation chosen within a few days and an itinerary to follow. Stay tuned....

Although I would love to attend an event like this, it's a bit much considering I'm planning on attending NSXPO in Portland in September. Two big trips in one year is probably more than I can manage:frown:

A few of us are planning an event (season kickoff BBQ & cruise) in Edmonton early May ... Allan Jack knows someone from the Edmonton Journal who wants to do a story on the NSX and the people who own them so we're hoping to have lots of cars and owners show up. Still in the planning stage but we'll schedule it around the West Fest so folks can attend both if they want.

It's hard to get us western Canadians together since we are so spread out ... our larger population centers (Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver) where we have a concentrated number of owners, are not very close to each other making it difficult to arrange impromptu meets.

Re the mileage comment - who cares. If you can't drive it, what's the point of owning it? Keeping it shiny and parked? I like mine shiny too, but wouldn't own it if I couldn't drive to events like these.

Just to clarify, Friday May 16 is Day 1 at Knox Mtn, with registration and the like (check out the website). Saturday May 17th is the Blossom Run in Summerland (not Sunday). Sunday is Peachland (not to be missed). Knox Mountain Qualifying and Racing is Saturday and Sunday during the day. There is no 2008 schedule yet, but there will very likely be 1/4-mile oval racing at the Penticton Speedway on 1, 2 or 3 of the nights that weekend. This can be and very often is, very entertaining stuff.

Driving to Kelowna up the Coquihalla is quick, direct, but very boring (and laced with Radar, especially as one nears Kelowna). The Duffy Lake Road (Vancouver, Whistler, Mt Currie, Lillooet) and subsequent routes to Ashcroft, Kamloops, Vernon & Kelowna are WAY WAY WAY more entertaining and involve doing what you car was meant to do. At the very least, Vancouver to Kelowna via Princeton, Penticton and up to Kelowna please, no Coquihalla.

I'm already booked at the Manteo. It is outdoor parking, but I've had no issues there so far. There is also a coin-op car-wash just down the road for cleanup prior to making it shiny.

I agree DC the cars need to be driven, why have it if you don't use it right? Yes I do see that the site corrected their dates (when i checked it was the 16-19th but now it is the 16th with the event being the '19th' annual...i guess there was a mix-up). I suggested the Coquihalla because its the fastest route, i knew the Duffey Lake Road is fantastic for scenery but felt the topic seemed to revolve around distance but hey i'm up for any route. We could split into two groups if wanted but i'd prefer to take one. What i'm working on is an itinerary that will be posted once checked over by a few members working on this project with me. So nothing is written in stone---yet :)

I was just bugging him. Almost 200,000km's on mine and climbing every summer.

Hey, I almost have 27,000 km now ... hardly a garage queen and a far cry from the 9200 km it had when I bought it. People assume because you have low mileage you don't drive the car.

I use my truck every day for work and when my wife and I go places with our dog but I try to get out in the evenings and weekends with the NSX. I love driving the NSX but I'm very busy in the summer and find it difficult to free up time to take extended trips.

I am looking forward to my first NSXPO next fall.

I'm in what ever you guys come up with, This is my first year owning a NSX I love the car and I love driving it. I'll go anywhere to go for a nice drive and meet some goo people. I know the owner of Kelly O'Brians Pub/Restaurant might be able to make reservations or something to get the party started over there LOL. I'm From Nanaimo BC

This all sounds good, I say we drive up from Edmonton and Crash on Bizzys floor for the nite. Two years ago I did this drive and stayed over at a friends house in Calgary, she is dating someone now (A Cop) so thats out. It was a long drive the next day to Kelowna myself, but found a viper going to Vancouver as I passed the peak of the rogers pass. We both should have been tossed in jail! I'm glad cell phones dont work in them mountains.
This meet should be a good one to break in my engine before the CTSC.
Please Edit post #1 with all the current info, it will be easier to get all the info in one spot.
Also make a list of supposed attendies.!
Wow, two big words in one sentence, I'm on a roll!
Trev

Once we have a hotel/resort deal lined up I will post that along with a tentative schedule and a list of those who have indicated to me or on this thread of their intention to attend. I hope that this will be done by Sat-Sunday. In the meantime, if you alreadys have not, please let me know either way if you plan to attend/maybe attend/or cannot attend.
Regards, Aaron

p.s. hey fffanman weren't u heading out East to help with the installation of a shifter knob?? lol

Keep me posted on the season kickoff in Edmonton. May can't come soon enough.

I would like to meet up with the all of you while you are here, but may not be able to participate in many events as it is my busy time of year. I would like to have a barbeque if anyone is interested and if I have enough room. Otherwise we could perhaps we could go to a winery.Maybe Quails gate, or any other winery that has great food, views and parking. Maybe a wine tasting tour to Naramata....great road north from Penticton.

Lets do the stand around and bullshit type thingy!
I dont think my formal gown will fit in the nsx trunk, what with the hoop on the bottom and the big frills.
I'm in, just tell me what to bring, theres an IGA or something close by I'm sure!
I spent my summers with my cousins that lived 2 blocks from Knox M. Just across from the park where we spent hours in the lake riding the logs from the mill, walking and floating along the creek and hiking up and around Knox Mountain. Its going to be nice to be back again, was there 2 years ago to visit a friend. The Hills are lovely around there!!!
Trev out! Well was in, now out.

So thanks to Don, I found out about this thread. There are a whole bunch of owners, me included, that do not lurk on the forums. I believe we need an email list for this.

Shall we invite the Northwest owners as well? I say the more the merrier.

Definitely, please invite as many owners as you know who you feel may be able to make the trip. It is going to be alot of fun i can say that much. We will have a hotel deal locked in here really soon and then a schedule of events to follow. Anyone wanting to have their name added to our list as for sure or maybe coming can contact me personally and i will add their names.
Thanks all,
Aaron
